About me: There will never be enough time to explore all the different women I would like to be. But in each of these personas I inhabit, I find that the through line has been my intellectual and artistic interest in the politics of borders--both between bodies and within bodies. This pursuit has manifested itself in many forms--whether it be interviewing women who live in rural farming cooperatives in Nicaragua and Haiti; advocacy of immigrants and political asylum seekers in the Bay Area; teaching creative writing inside the San Francisco Women's Jail; sex/work/performance/art and erotic dance; critical and creative writing; or diving off the stage into a crowd of rowdy pogo punks while singing with my band.

Who I'd like to meet: You ... and Dementia Praecox
People come into your life for a REASON, a SEASON or a LIFETIME. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on. Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real.

In thoughts of a dear friend... ;)
written for someone very special
can we sit in the dark together
become it's light...
for the power of us could steal from night
and return to the blinding moment sight
we could skip jump and be bold
or we could just sit and each other hold
for a piece of your smile
my thoughts dream and wish to mold
thine eyes hurt from praying so hard
of dancing in you
for in this pen
it's stains laid to paper
is an echo of my every moment you
these leaves of heart smiling in the wind
and thy grass hugs the sun
a breath of you I wish to smile through
the flowers petals
and the clouds you live in
I place with that the beauty of gods hands and angels wings
for in my deafness now sings
and you bring.
