Music, writing, sports (especially basketball and football), the arts, and great company.
Music
Not a big fan of pop country, “hardcore” rap, and death metal, but anything else is game. Por ejemple: Arcade Fire, Air, Alice in Chains, Tori Amos, Animal Collective, Fiona Apple, The Beatles, Belle and Sebastian, Blonde Redhead, David Bowie, Bjork, Blur, Bright Eyes, Dave Brubeck, Johnny Cash, Cat Power, Coldplay, John Coltrane, Elvis Costello (of the non-Bacharach or Brodsky Quartet ilk), Sheryl Crow, The Cure, Miles Davis, Depeche Mode, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, ELO, Feist, The Flaming Lips, Franz Ferdinand, Peter Gabriel, Marvin Gaye, P.J. Harvey, Jimi Hendrix, Antonio Carlos Jobim (Gilberto, Gil), LCD Soundsystem, Led Zeppelin, Jenny Lewis/Rilo Kiley, Moby, Modest Mouse, Kate Myers, My Morning Jacket, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Nine Inch Nails, Oasis, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, The Pixies, Prince, The Raconteurs, Radiohead, R.E.M., The Rolling Stones (through TATTOO YOU), Rue Royale, Elliott Smith, The Smiths, Regina Spektor, The Stone Roses, Sufjan Stevens, The Sundays, Talking Heads, U2, The White Stripes, The Who, Wilco, Brice Woodall, XTC, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Neil Young.
Movies
Great oldies that can teach anybody a lot about love, friendship, and life in general such as CASABLANCA. Also Hitchcock, Scorsese, Tarantino, LORD OF THE RINGS, indy and great foreign flicks (hooray for subtitles). See my Flickster movie reviews for more.
Television
HOUSE, MR. SHOW, SIX FEET UNDER (the best last episode ever), WITHOUT A TRACE, and lots of old school comedy. I see most of the newer programs on DVR, not when they're actually airing.
Books
Auden, Beckett, Bronte sisters, Conrad, Dickinson, Donne, Hardy, Hawthorne, Hemingway, Joyce, Kafka, Kerouac (for ON THE ROAD), Neruda, O'Connor, Poe, Steinbeck, Whitman, Yeats among others. And doesn’t Shakespeare go without saying?
Newer: Atwood, Chambon, Cisneros, Eggers, Heller, Morrison, Oates, D. Sedaris and this list will keep growing with more reading.
And want to hear some great works in progress and get comments for your own work? Highland Writers Group, every Saturday at Borders in Westfield Mall, Hobart, IN, 3:30 p.m.
Heroes
My parents, late grandmother, Kristin Jensen, my wonderful girlfriend Heather, my friends and fellow mad artists.
And please remember that celebrities are (usually) mere mortals. Don't worship 'em, but also give 'em a break.

About me: I'm a poet, writer, legal proofreader, part-time college instructor, arts critic, moonlighting singer, and provocateur.
Who I'd like to meet: Up-and-coming artists, musicians, writers and people who realize it's the journey and who you spend it with, and not the destination.
Hi, Gordon! How've you been? Alas, I have to miss Kindle at CISA. I'm going to see X that night since I can't catch them on Thursday. I'll see Phish Friday and Saturday.
I found out about the flood when I got to CISA. I was planning on going to JJ's next Friday, but I just found out my cousin is having her b-day party that night. I'll see what time it ends.
Hey there! How's the little lady? Based on what she's been posting she's been sick...Good to hear from you! Yes, Temecula is lovely-it's a shame the average summer temp is triple digits or we'd consider living there! It's WAY cheaper :)
Friday I finally got No Doubt tix! Can't wait for that show. The last time I saw No Doubt was at the World in '95. Did you catch them at The Double Door?
gordon, where oh where will randomly see you again? i don't work at night anymore, resend me info on uncle freddy's open mic thingys. please and thanks!
I got a Phish ticket for Deer Creek and the second Alpine Valley show (the tour closer). I couldn't get any for the first Alpine show. I thought the Coachella list looked good. Are you going?
