The members of Madball are icons in the underground and that underground now spills forth into the streets. Since forming in 1988, Madball has been responsible for some of the most important releases in the genre, from the seminal Ball of Destruction EP (1989) to the landmark albums Set It Off (1994), Demonstrating My Style (1996), Look My Way (1998), Hold it Down (2000), and their career defining resurgent Ferret Music debut, Legacy (2005). The band completes their musical and lyrical evolution with Infiltrate the System, comprised of 13 tracks that combine the most tried-and-true and fan-beloved elements of their esteemed catalog with new depth, renewed urgency, increasing diversity and a near-conceptual approach to new stories about the streets, and the world.
It's fitting that after meeting so many of different types of fans on the road, in places as diverse as Latin America, Europe and Japan (the band's first proper tour, in fact, was across the Atlantic, and South America followed soon after), Madball chose to acknowledge the impact of the hardcore community that spawned them in places great and small, from the mind-blowing to the mundane, with their new album's title. NYHC legends still pack a punch.
As the landscape of hardcore changes over time, it's nice to have a model of consistency encapsulating a genre that once dominated the punk and hardcore scene. Madball haven't been short on adversity through their history, which keeps their music as urgent and real as ever. Infiltrate The System is 30 minutes of pure, unadulterated rage, with all the pogo-mosh parts to match. Much like their cross-town brethren in Sick Of It All, Madball have not changed a thing about their sound beyond the recording quality: The record is overflowing with gang vocals, breakdowns and shouts of New York pride. As you move past your days of wearing eyeliner and listening to kids with funny haircuts scream like pterodactyls, give the undisputed champs a shot; one spin through the album's impassioned lead track "We The People" should have you circle-pitting with the family dog in seconds-the rest is just a bonus. SO. CAL. HELP MEND A HEART BENEFIT SHOW PROCEEDS BENEFITING MAUREEN WATERS, MOTHER OF NEW FOUND GLORY VOCALIST JORDAN PUNDIK
LOS ANGELES, CA – In a show of support for well known rock band New Found Glory, several Southern California based fans will be putting together a benefit concert to be held on December 29, 2009 in Long Beach, Ca. With local musical acts donating their time, the show will seek to raise money for the Help Mend A Heart Foundation aiding Florida resident Maureen Waters. Waters is recently suffering from a virus that has caused her heart to weaken and is in need of a transplant, but does not have the medical insurance to cover the cost. She is the mother of New Found Glory’s lead singer, Jordan Pundik.
Organizers of the event are all too familiar with spending long periods of time in the hospital due to an illness. It was the music of New Found Glory and others that pulled these young adults through their darkest times. Now they would like to thank one of their favorite bands by raising as much money as possible for Jordan’s mother Maureen. The owner of the venue has agreed to give 100% of the proceeds for tickets sold to all those over the age of 21, and 50% of proceeds to tickets sold to all those under the age of 21. A donations jar will be set up as well a card that all ticket holders are welcome to sign, giving their best wishes to Maureen.
The benefit concert will give New Found Glory fans and the community the opportunity to give something meaningful back to a person in need as well as to their favorite band, while bonding with others over a common interest. This holiday season give something back, help mend a heart.
