Influences
With 7 members in this band, our influences cover a vast array of genres.
"Our drummer likes skate punk like Pennywise, the guitarist (ADAM) likes crusty punk, SKA, Electronica, and metal, the bassist likes psychobilly and Black metal, the singer listens to bands like Alkaline Trio or My Chemical Romance or White Zombie, but we all share an appreciation for ska in all it's forms." When you break it down you can take the hardest metal song and turn it into a lounge song just like you can take a country song and make it into a punk song. All music is interchangeable really.
Operation Ivy - The Specials- Voo Doo Glow Skulls - Iggy Pop - Misfits - Madness - The toasters - Quincy Punx - Rancid - Bad Brains - Clash - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dead Kennedys - Pennywise - NOFX - Blue Meanies - The Queers - Link 80 - Slackers - Poison 13 - Stitches - Dead Boys - Sublime - MC5 - The DAMNED - CITIZEN FISH - Ramones - Tiger Army - Necromantix - Horror Pops - Pennywise -
Kiss- Ozzy- Children of Bodom - Mentors - Social Distortion - Goldfinger - The Dickies - Steetlight Manifesto - Bad Religion - Mad Caddies - Reel Big Fish -
Danzig - Against all Authority - Anti-Flag - Del Shannon - CCR - Fear - Conflict - Snuff- Lower Class Brats - Aus Rotten - Agent Orange - Filth - Black Flag - Circle Jerks - Leftover Crack - So many more that my hand would fall off if I typed em all!!!
Sounds Like
The dirty side of ska...although many have compared us to the likes of Madness, Clay Aiken and Voo Doo Glow Skulls countless times.

Hey everyone this KR I have been talking to everyone it looks like we might pick up where we left off in April when the Doc returns from Iraq!! However this is not confirmed yet!
Hey everybody....this is Doc Hoovie. Just to give everyone a heads up, the HATTERS have decided to retire out of the music scene. We have accomplished soooo much in the last years it is amazing to sit around with each other; throw back a few beers, and just talk about all the fun we have had with our music and all of our friends! We have made this decision to chill for a while due to the fact that one- its is near impossible to get 7 talented fucks as ourselves in one room for a couple of hours based on that Josh is going back to school...Kenny is actually holding down a job...Maaike is running a kick ass bar (Cape Fear Wine and Beer )..Jake and Nick are chillin as usual..and I am deploying back to Iraq in a very short time. And two...well...we just feel the time has come to close this chapter in our lives. We just want to thank all of our fans and supporters of our music and garage ska/punks bands all over the place. Granted there are a few fools that I wouldnt mind kicking their ass just like Marley sang- what goes around comes around. So on a closing note..Thank-you once again and remember...Don't get MADD----> Get EEEVEN !!!!!
The Madd Hatters' sound at its roots is ska, yet distinct sounds of punk, psychobilly and surf can be heard. Formed in the late summer of 1997 in a small, quiet part of the south east known as Cape Fear (Wilmington, N.C.) In that time, the Madd Hatters have played over 1200 shows, with over 2000 bands all over the U.S. and Canada. The band has shared the stage with many great talented ska and punk bands such as The Toasters, The Slackers, VGS, The Casualties and many more.
The Madd Hatters' sound has been compared to bands such as The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Voo Doo Glow Skulls and Madness. If you have never experienced a Madd Hatters show then hang on. The Madd Hatters are known for their high-energy live performances and stage antics. Keeping the crowd moving comes very easy for this band.
