Open up your internet browser and type in “google.ca.” Next tab down to the search bar and type in “hip hop producer” and click the search button. What happens next should not surprise you, but the mere fact that thousands upon thousands of producers that sound the exact same come up.
The year is 2009 and hip hop is in a state of emergency with hundreds of thousands of producers trying to make their mark in the game they’ve all resorted to following the same trends and in return, end up sounding like the same generic cookie cutter producer as the last.
This is not the case with fairly new to the game producer, Rayne Drop. Getting his start as a rap artist named “Kid Kilo” from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan Canada; Rayne always had a unique taste for sampled beats. After making the switch from rapper to producer, it was evident that taste was bound to influence his style. Blending mellow soul with the trunk rattling drums you often hear on a Rayne Drop beat it’s no wonder so many artists continue to rely on Rayne for that soulful sound.
Getting his debut on Spesh K’s LP titled “The Main Event” in late 2008, Rayne did not exactly take this opportunity at the time, falling back into the habits of penning verses it wasn’t until January of 2009 that Rayne decided to put rap on the back burner and began to focus on beats. With a heavy collection of beats and tones of starving artists to feed Rayne, has made it his goal to stay true to the sound he has become known for.
