Valentine's Day 2009 ~ Chef's Tasting Menu
..
......
Welcome to Madeleine Bistro...
"At Madeleine's helm are David and Molly Anderson, former executive chef and general
manager, respectively, at Real Food Daily, another first-rate, though casual Los
Angeles vegan restaurant. Driving off the Real Food reservation, however, the
Andersons have made a culinary left-turn towards a star-speckled, high desert of
creativity and elegance. Where else could one find an appetizer described as a “Study
in Corn”? This edible work of art consists of four amuse-bouches made entirely of, you
guessed it, corn: Corn Cappuccino, Corn Foam, Corn French Fries and Corn Ice
Cream. The particularly enjoyable cappuccino went down like smooth, buttery chowder.
The French fries, made of polenta, were entirely palate-pleasing with the exact crunchy,
salty goodness of your perfect crinkly fry..."
"This charming storefront cafe in Tarzana, with its date-night aura and inventive, well-crafted vegan food, would fill a niche anywhere..."
--Los Angeles Times
"The French-inspired menu is a testament to a talented chef with a lively imagination..."
--VegNews Magazine
"Whether it's a flavor pairing you never imagined, a dairy-free feat you didn't think possible, or simply the pleasure of enjoying a meal from a chef so clearly in his element, Madeleine Bistro is unforgettable."
Chef David Anderson is firmly committed to utilizing only the finest animal-free, organically-grown, seasonal ingredients prepared with flair, innovation and imagination. Madeleine Bistro's menus feature a diverse selection of artfully presented pan-ethnic dishes with a decidedly French influence. Although the techniques are French, inspiration for the dishes is culled from the world's rich bounty of ethnic cuisines, as well as playful takes on American comfort food favorites (dishes such as Chicken-Fried Seitan and Banasas Foster Split spring to mind). The final piece of the puzzle is Southern California's incredible abundance of top notch organic farmers, whose product allows Chef Anderson to realize his dream of allowing the menu "to be dictated by the whim of the seasons."
Madeleine Bistro is located at 18621 Ventura Blvd. in Tarzana, which is in the San Fernando Valley. We are on the north side of the street. Our cross streets are Reseda Blvd. to the east and Yolanda Ave. to the west. Click the link below to view a map.
