In the beginning it was always a solo gig. Though I was interested in bringing other people in, open to the way the music might evolve with someone else's creative input. In the last year I've welcomed a lively new element to the mix. Someday, maybe I'll tell you the story of how the cosmos were arranged in such a way that he just fell into my lap like a falling star! So now there is a new fresh sound, and a renewed sense of purpose. I'm delighted to have Jeremy Mohr on board to grace the stage with his versatile and instinctive finesse on the acoustic guitar, mandolin, and banjo! Be sure to check it out at the next show.
Influences
I can appreciate a wide spectrum of music players. The ones though that have taught me the most about music...folks like Richie Havens, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Buffy Saint-Marie, Gillian Welch, Greg Brown, Dar Williams, Richard Schindell, Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer, Damien Rice, Micheal Hedges, Patti Griffin, Ani Difranco, and Ben Harper. My music collection also includes the likes of Janis Joplin, Nina Simone, Norah Jones, Indigo Girls, India Arie, Tori Amos, Muddy Waters, Leonard Cohen, James Taylor, Crosby Stills & Nash, Union Station, Jack Johnson, Hank Roberts and the Wiggy Dog Boy, The Mammals, Simon and Garfunkel, NickelCreek (NOT to be confused with NickelBack), Jimi Hendrix, Beethoven, Tracy Chapman, Sublime, Buddy Guy, Gypsy Kings, and Live. I am also inspired, not just musically, but personally by tremendous artists, writers, and movers & shakers like Martin Luther King Jr., Alice Walker, Maya Angelou, David Sedaris, Annie Leibovitz. And then there's all the different folks I meet in my day to day...who give me something to think about...something to sing about.

For a handful of years I’ve frequented the Buffalo music circuit. Paying my dues in the coffee shops. bars and back-yards around town. Performing original songs inspired by socio-political past and current events, my own demons & heroes and matters of the heart.
As far back as I can retrieve memories, I’ve been singing. Music has always been a staple in my life, a necessary creative outlet. Though I was born in Buffalo, NY, I spent most of my youth growing up in Los Angeles, CA. And all along the way, from Buffalo, to Cali, and back to Buffalo again...there was music. As a child I toyed with the piano, then the violin, and eventually ended up with a guitar in my hands.
Slowly I experimented with it’s possibilities, and began creating music. And once I had the taste of my own music in my mouth, I was hooked...the rest is history. Looking back now, those first songs written will never see the light of day. But I understand now...that is the process. You have to start somewhere and learn and evolve, in order to become the person you aim to be, fulfilled creatively, emotionally, etc. It’s important for us to be in a constant state of growth, to be ever-changing.
So this is my music...so far...just a few personal stories and observations put to song. This is what I have to bring to the table...and it’s my hope that from it, you can take with you something meaningful. Thanks for listening~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Buffalo-based Singer-Songwriter Madeleine White’s years of playing in coffeehouses and clubs across Western New York have definitley paid off in a big way. White’s debut CD, Restless, exhibits a songwriter of mature skill and lyrical sensibilities. White’s voice is hypnotic and the musical backing (courtesy of White’s acoustic and guitar playing and guests Liz Abbot and Ed Hart and others) proves tastefully understated yet positively enchanting. Madeleine White performs at a release party for Restless with friends Abbott, Hart and Jon Martz on Thursday (Jan.20) at 8pm at Nietzsche’s." -Artvoice Publication, January 2005
