The summer of 2006 joined the initiative of six different musicians whose musical ideas reflect the diversity of their Miami roots. On a platform of rock-reggae, Made of Hemp offers its own accent of cool jazz, dub, hip-hop and psychedelic rock. Their live show strings together their influences through improvisational jamming, a hint of mixed meters, and Latin drum patterns. No strangers to both classical studies and grass-roots musical scholarship, the group's members offer an array of backgrounds and musical approaches that offer a fresh alternative in a music scene of repetition and emulation.
Present
With the recent addition of John Nicholson on the drum set, Made of Hemp has outstretched its rhythmic boundaries in the both song-writing and live musicianship. His creative vision and open mind have already built upon the sounds Made of Hemp has to offer and will continue to contribute to the development of the ensemble in the future.
Future
We are pleased to announce the upcoming release of our debut album, Made of Hemp for President, under Kulcha Shok Muzik. Co-produced and recorded by Tony Suarez of Artificial Memory Studios, the album will feature a collection of originally crafted tracks that serve to define our musical ideas thus far.
