Madhatter Music Company's Blurbs

About me:
Madhatter Music Co. was founded in 1988 by Billy Hanway and Ed Cratty. Its first customer was a madman by the name of Jim Cummer, who became manager and eventually bought the store. For 18 years, Madhatter has stood for good music, flying under the radar of a diseased popular culture, communing with fellow like-minded freaks and lifers, and rocking out at all costs.

In October 2006, PB Army drummer and local music journalist/heart patient Keith Bergman took the torch and attempted to lead Madhatter from its recalcitrant teenage years into the murky waters of young adulthood. Sadly, he's packed his bags and inventory, never to return. The store is officially closed.

Thanks for the years of love and support. It was a gas. Cherish them memories and all things rock and roll.

I don't know what I would have done without it when I was young. Too bad it's gone. Hope it springs back to life someday.

KRAKOA	Jul 20 2007 11:17 AM Happy Birthday to Madhatter. We are sorry to hear of the temporary closing. This is Charlie from Krakoa. I used to regularly stop in and shoot the shit with Jim. Madhatter has always been awesome for good music selection and great staff and atmosphere. I don't know Keith personally, but I read the blog about the latest to-do with Madhatter and understand. I (and I think I speak for the rest of Krakoa, too) wish nothing but the best for him and his family. And if it's the same Keith I think it is (from the PB Army), I'm sure he's doing an awesome job (seeing a PB Army show always convinced me to not quit making music). If it isn't the same Keith, well, it doesn't matter (how could you not trust Jim's judgement?), as Madhatter has always been and always will be a cool place to find music and shoot the shit. Toledo or BG, it doesn't matter. You can buy your records from the 16 year old at Best Buy who's never heard of the Kinks or you can talk to somebody who knows what the fuck they're talking about, and that's what Madhatter has always represented: Knowing what the fuck they're talking about. Salut, Madhatter. Next time I'm in Ohio, I definitely want to check out the new digs.
