Influences
Hooboy . . . the big influences question. We like a lot of stuff, ya know? Lately, while not listening to Creedence or the Stones or Mozart, John's been taken by Neko Case. To her ranch, maybe. The Kings of Leon and Wilco get a listen and of course, Steve Miller!
Anyway, Mad Highway's best influences are a catchy guitar rhythm and bass pulse meeting up with chuggin' drums--and a singalong chorus. (Awright: Creedence, The Who, Stones, The Band, Police, Doors, Dire Straits, Eagles, ZZ Top, Brit blues, California country, and pretty much anything that has a good groove!)
Sounds Like
A hard rock band with big, jangling guitars that are somehow dirty but clean. I don't know of any current band that plays and sings as hard as MH but stays out of the mud.
Not that mud ain't fun, mind you!
MAD HIGHWAY is a rocking band who seeks the very centre of rock'n'roll, where the excitement and energy of truly LIVE music comes from.
In this sometimes bleak age of overly processed and digitized music, Mad Highway keeps its sound right at gut level with chewy rhythms and solid beats carrying inventive songs and no-nonsense lyricism. That's not to say that we live in the past, but it seems that many current groups have missed the point of rock'n'roll, and that's the ROLL part. It's gotta have rhythm if ya wanna make people move!
We work hard on being musically honest, true, and clean, and never resorting to cheap gimmicks and theatrics. At a Mad Highway show, you'll get a spirited performance delivered with passion, firece conviction, and a simple love of music, and playing it with truth. 'Cause rock-n'roll sometimes has a moment when it's the most important thing in the world ...
The Stones got it, The Who got it, Creedence got it, and we try to follow in their (giant) footsteps. It's what rock'n'roll is all about: music for the people!
Hey. Thanks for the add and complements. I love your songs. They're really catchy. Let us know if you ever looking for a band to play shows with. Thanks again. -Datura
Hey thanks for the add! In response to the John Foggerty question it was an anthology CCR record I used to play the hell out of from my parents collection. Take it easy!
