The Frequency is serving up a wide variety of live music in downtown Madison 7 nights a week featuring a smattering of local, regional, national and international acts playing bluegrass, punk, metal, jazz, electronic, indie, hip hop, klezmer, etc, etc....
The drinks will be tasty (as well as reasonably priced) and served by friendly, professional staff. Snacks including hot pretzels, frozen Portesi pizzas, chips and other confections will be made available. The atmosphere will be comfy and include a "retro" cd jukebox. Drink specials daily!
We are proud to announce the addition of FUNKY MONDAYS with the CLYDE STUBBLEFIELD SHOW starting May 18th. 9 PM, $5 to dance to the grooves of the Funky Drummer. We also have the bi-weekly DAN POTACKE SHOW on Mondays at 6 PM. FREE! Tuesdays are equally rocking with the popular CHICAGO BLUES TUESDAYS and OPEN JAM featuring some of Chicago and Madison's finest Blues musicians. You'll see the likes of John Primer, Linsey Alexander, Pistol Pete, Billy Branch, Kenny "Beedy Eyes" Smith, Wayne Baker Brooks and many others all for a very low cover charge. Hosted by AJ Love and his house band, this has become a premier event in a very short time. Don't miss it!

Once you are booked at The Frequency, here's what you can do to help make your show a successful one.
Email us the following:
• A clear band photo in JPG or PNG format. It must be 400 pixels wide.
• A short band bio
• Links to some of your music. Direct links are preferred, i.e., http://yourband.com/music/our-song.mp3
* IMPORTANT! IF YOU WANT TO BE FEATURED ON OUR WEBSITE YOU NEED TO SUBMIT THE MATERIALS REQUESTED ABOVE. WE WILL NOT CHASE DOWN YOUR BAND BIO AND PICTURE. IF YOU ARE NOT LISTED ON OUR WEBSITE IT IS BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT SUBMITTED THESE MATERIALS!
You need to contact local press and radio 2 weeks prior to your event; a convenient list is provided on the website as stated earlier. If you have any suggestions please send them our way, especially if we're missing outlets that you'd normally use. Send posters to the club at least 2 weeks ahead of your scheduled date, we do put them up here and other places as well. You are responsible for your own flyers! We do our own in-house promotion but we also depend on you, the band, to do some of the work as well.

We also suggest registering with local websites and forums and dropping the word in those places. The Isthmus' Daily Page Forum is a great example of a place to promote your gig.

FAQ
What time do we load in?
4:30 PM for Freqy Hour shows. 8 PM for late shows.
Where do we park?
Onstreet parking is available, metered until 6 PM. There is a ramp across the street, they charge 24 hrs a day.
Do we get free drinks or food?
The Frequency offers 3 free tap PBR and two 1/2 price drinks to performers. Food is not provided, we do have pizzas and other snacks. If you're from a different continent or generally destitute we probably will 'za you up.
Will we get paid?
Anything made at the door is split amongst the bands equally (after sound charge *), barring any prior arrangements. If you do your homework and draw even a few people out you will make some $ for gas.
Do we have to pay for sound?
FREQY HOUR SHOWS - $15 will be taken from the door to cover sound
LATE SHOWS - $30 will be taken from the door to cover sound
Where do we stay after the show?
We do not provide accomodations for bands. Find a fan or look up one of the many fine motels in our area.
Do we get a guest list?
We allow 1 per band member.
Do you have a backline?
Currently we have one 8x10 bass cabinet that is available for use. Beyond that we have a very adequate P.A. and lighting system, specs below.

Here in Wisconsin we have a small window of opportunity to reclaim the public's right to use whatever medications,either natural or prerscribed in the maintenance of their health. I'm talking about the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act. Cannibas hemp has been used as a medicine for centuries. Eli Lilly had many preparations made from hemp that's recorded in their pharmacopeia in the 1920's. The DEA's Law Judge issued a statement that 'In it's natural state, marijuana is the most therapeutically active substance known to man.". Many who are like myself and have neuromuscular ailments are prescribed drugs that are far more harmful to us than the symptoms we are trying to get rid of. For myself it's about not having my kidney's shut down from trying to stop muscle spasms and ending the nerve pains that run down my legs that no drug prescribed by any doctor can ease. Ideally,as a Constitutional Right,we should be able to use any product that has a positive effect on our individual health. Cannibas hemp whether smoked,eaten or vaporized can do that for millions of patients and that right of choice should be ours,not lawmakers. But we find ourselves needing the aide of Lawmakers to get that right returned to us. If you support a person's right to use cannibas hemp or use it yourself, PLEASE contact you local Senator and State Representitive at; http://www.legis.state.wi.us and tell them to make the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act a law.
