If Madison hadn't brought her proprietary sultriness to the cracked, squirrelly grunge of Weezy's flow on the below cover of "Lollipop", the track might stray into "ironic indie band hip hop cover" territory- a sickeningly precious sub genre of both rap and indie rock that Ernest Cashmore would have a fucking field day with. Thankfully, Madison isn't Robyn, providing both a terrific after-after-party jam and a new standard for crawling into bed stoned together as day breaks.
Good song.

Madscientist by Madison
Has anyone else heard stuff by Madison? I''ve known about her for a year or so but havent seen any publicity in the UK. She writes and sings brilliantly catchy tunes eg "Madscientist" which combines Missy Elliot rapping, Sound of the Underground-style surf guitar and clappy drumbeat with a killer chorus that has echoes of Sugababes and similar "cool" girl pop groups. Has a new track called "Happy Girl" that is great too but not up on her myspace. NB I am NOT spamming, I am just an enthusiastic blogger of good pop.
“…this new addition to the music community is more than just a pretty face…
Madison shows off her talents as a powerful singer
and adept songwriter…” (The Tripwire)
“Madison is an indie artist who sounds like she should be on VH1… each song could be a potential single…If she can come up with an entire album filled with songs this good, there is no telling where her career could go.” (Pop Matters)
"Don't hold your breath for that new Britney Spears club-hit. Instead, let me introduce you to a worthy alternative, sure to satisfy any thirst you may have for a new pop star. Lower east side diva Madison provides dance pop for the Pitchfork set, filling venues like Pianos and Rockwood Music Hall with her hip-shaking tunes and spunky persona. As a music supervisor by day, Madison has a vast understanding of indie rock's climate, a quality that shines through in her music.
Basically, Madison is freaking hot, and knows how to sing. Great songs, sexy image and a salty attitude. The only thing standing between her and mainstream fame is an upskirt shot from the paparazzi. Check out a few of her tunes on myspace."

“Madison. Here is a girl on the way up, with her mind bending posh, melodic, pop tunes. People easily get lost in her music; moving, grooving, and shaking booty. She is an amazing songwriter who puts her soul into what she says and connects them with a great sound.” (Buzzgrinder)
