Sometimes, I play vibes. Sometimes, I play percussion. Sometimes, I don't play at all because I'd rather dance instead. My current projects span jazz, Brazilian, tango, Latin jazz, rock and chamber music.
My dad played drums, so I started playing percussion about twenty years ago. I graduated from Swarthmore College with a degree in math and music. After that, I went to the University of Michigan for my masters in improvisation and I'm finishing my doctorate in percussion performance at the University of Washington.
I have three albums out on Origin Records. They contain all original material - mostly modern jazz with some fun meters and harmonic material mixed with Latin jazz.
My day gig is teaching music theory and history at a community college. And I am available for children's parties...
Recently, I bought a bandoneon and have started learning tango tunes on it. If only the vibraphone was this portable!
Check out my website at www.malletman.com.
I heard your music and your name on the radio the other day, of course I missed the name of the band.....it said that you were having a show.....could you maybe post when so I could sneak attack you sometime.
Can't wait to hear you and Jovino at good ol' Highline Community College this Friday (Sept. 19) from 11:30 to 1:30 pm, outside in front of the library, at the gig which is free and open to the public, who - if they're eavesdropping - should really take advatage of this golden - nay, platinum - opportunity to come out and help me cheer you two freaking brilliant lads!
If you're not otherwise occupied, you should come to my senior voice recital at UPS on Saturday, 7:30pm. Schneebeck Concert Hall. Invite your students! :) And write to tell me how things are going!
For the first two weeks of the quarter I had Mantega stuck in my head. Not sure why. It may have just been because it's a fun song with lots of SHOUTING AHHHH!! like after a old man drinks Whiskey.
Gimme A Pigfoot and a BOTTLE OF BEER!!
hey I'm going to have your boss next quarter for Journalism 100. I would have taken Susan Landgraf but she's going to China.
" I'm from China My friend" Mother Love Bone
Anyway then I thought I would be like you and get my hands on a picture of him and hang it upside down on the wall of my room so I can wake up laughing every morning
HA HA HAAA!!!
I get in a weird mood after 11:30 which is why I'm writing on your wall...
