Is has been a long journey now for the Mad Marionettes. For many years Daniel and Ivan McCormick have adopted music as part of their lives, and I could almost say, they're reason to live.
Since kids they have dedicated their time and passion to music; they started a few projects performing here and there with out knowing where it would take them. One day I had the pleasure of meeting these amazing people, not realizing that this would change my life tremendously. Daniel invited me to be part of their music project at the time, the Psychobilly Flapjacks, and even though I had never, ever, played a musical instrument in my life, it seemed like our friendship and common interest in music, put that big difference aside. Many weeks passed before I was able to play the piano but for the first time, I had the opportunity to understand a better way of life, full of music, friendship, fun, but the best out of all, I found a new family in them.
It has been a long time since those days, Daniel and Ivan created a new band called the Mad Marionettes, a project in which I have been a part of since the beginning.
The past couple of years, the Marionette project has evolved into what it is now, and I keep admiring the genius of Daniel and Ivan who have created a hole new style of music, and even when we cannot describe the type of music that we now play, I can truly say that the sounds that we are making are in a sense, a way to prove that even the saddest moments are as beautiful and full of life as the most exiting moments of our lives. I truly believe this because the Marionettes have help me understand that this project is not about finding fame, or wealth, but about uniting people, about performing and making everyone that listens to our music forget they're every day troubles, the music is about our friendship, our family, and about making those sad moments of our lives truly beautiful.
People have been inquiring about when the Marionettes will performing again and when are they going to be able to buy our music. What I can say is that at this moment Daniel and Ivan are working with producer John Avila, bass player for Oingo-Bongo, and they are recording our first single and E.P. The Mad Marionettes will be performing again in May with the new 8 piece live band.
I know the wait has been long but don’t worry friends, you will be hearing from us very, very soon.
Thank you so much for your constant support and kind affection.
This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again.
The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification
Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.
By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month. Share this with your children and grandchildren.
