MAD MAX wanted to present something really special for their anniversary. At the same time they wanted to make a clear statement that the band has developed and created something new and modern. A pure recycling of old songs was out of the question for Michael, Juergen and Roland. On the opposite - "here we are" contains 14 (!!!) new songs with a total playing time of more than 56 minutes!

How do you bring together the past and the future? How can you show your fans that you are more creative than ever? How can you win new listeners? Like often in life the solution was quite simple. You invite good friends from all over the world to realize a special idea. One song was composed with each of them - kind of an interactive songwriting like it has never been done before. And it worked! MAD MAX could rely on their friends: JOE LYNN TURNER (ex-RAINBOW, ex-DEEP PURPLE), DON AIREY (DEEP PURPLE), MICHAEL SCHENKER (MSG), JEFF SCOTT SOTO (ex-JOURNEY, TALISMAN), OZ FOX (STRYPER), KEN TAMPLIN (ex-JOSHUA, TAMPLIN), BERNIE TORME (ex-GILLAN, ex-OZZY OSBOURNE), AXEL RUDI PELL (ARP), WOLF HOFFMANN (ACCEPT), DAVID READMAN (PINK CREAM 69), SASCHA GERSTNER (HELLOWEEN) and MARC STORACE (KROKUS). They all contributed ideas, melodies or guitar riffs of which the MAD MAX songwriter team Voss-Breforth then formed the actual tracks. Standing for the opinions of the other musicians, DON AIREY of DEEP PURPLE said about the quality of "his" song "Where the winds blow": "Hi, Michael! You always amaze me, but never more so than just now when I listened to the track! Great work - go ahead!"

But "here we are" isn't just the title of teh album, but also the title of the first single. In fact it was the last song that was composed for the album. Michael Voss got together with his friend JAN LOECHEL (composer for REAMONN and the H-BLOCKX) and together they had found the perfect title track, one to represent the past and the future of MAD MAX. Then in Berlin the videoclip to "here we are" was shot, a clip in which Michael, Juergen and Roland have to resist some dangerous temptations to finally rock the stage for their fans!

"here we are" - passender und symbolischer hätte der Titel des neuen MAD MAX Albums nicht gewählt werden können. Mit "here we are" feiern MAD MAX einerseits ihr 25-jähriges Bandjubiläum - nach immerhin 7 Alben und Touren durch ganz Europa mit DEEP PURPLE, ALICE COOPER und weiteren Rockgiganten - beschreiten aber andererseits in vielerlei Hinsicht auch neue Wege.

MAD MAX wollten den Fans zum 25-jährigen Jubiläum etwas ganz Besonderes bieten, gleichzeitig aber auch ein klares Statement abgeben, dass die Band im Hier und Jetzt agiert. Ein Recyceln alter Songs kam für Michael, Jürgen und Roland nicht in Frage. Ganz im Gegenteil - "here we are" enthält 14 !!! neue Songs mit einer Gesamtspielzeit von mehr als 56 Minuten!

Wie bringt man Vergangenheit und Zukunft zusammen? Wie kann man zeigen, das die Band kreativer ist denn je? Wie kann man auch neue Hörer dazugewinnen? Wie so oft im Leben war die Lösung eigentlich ganz einfach.! Man lädt gute Freunde aus allen Teilen der Welt ein, um eine ganz besondere Idee umzusetzen. Mit jedem der befreundeten Musiker sollte ein Song zusammen komponiert werden - sozusagen ein interaktives Songwriting wie es in dieser Art wohl einmalig war. Und tatsächlich konnten sich MAD MAX auf ihre Freunde verlassen: JOE LYNN TURNER (ex-RAINBOW, ex-DEEP PURPLE), DON AIREY (DEEP PURPLE), MICHAEL SCHENKER (MSG), JEFF SCOTT SOTO (ex-JOURNEY, TALISMAN), OZ FOX (STRYPER), KEN TAMPLIN (ex-JOSHUA, TAMPLIN), BERNIE TORME (ex-GILLAN, ex-OZZY OSBOURNE), AXEL RUDI PELL (ARP), WOLF HOFFMANN (ACCEPT), DAVID READMAN (PINK CREAM 69), SASCHA GERSTNER (HELLOWEEN) und MARC STORACE (KROKUS). Sie alle steuerten Ideen, Melodien oder Gitarrenriffs bei, aus denen das MAD MAX Songwriterteam Michael und Jürgen dann die fertigen Songs formte. Zur Qualität der so entstandenen Songs sei hier stellvertretend für alle teilnehmenden Künstler das Zitat von DON AIREY von DEEP PURPLE zu dem mit ihm komponierten Titel "Where the winds blow" genannt: " Hi, Michael! Du erstaunst mich immer wieder, aber noch nie so wie jetzt als ich unseren fertigen Song hörte. Fantastische Arbeit - mach' weiter so!"

"here we are" ist aber nicht nur der Titel des Albums, sondern auch der Titel der ersten Single. Tatsächlich war es der letzte Song, der für das Album komponiert wurde. Michael setzte sich mit seinem Freund JAN LÖCHEL (Komponist u. a. für REAMONN und H-BLOCKX) zusammen, und schnell war beiden klar, dass sie den perfekten Titelsong gefunden hatten, den Song, der für die Vergangenheit und die Zukunft von MAD MAX steht. In Berlin entstand ein rasanter Videoclip zu "here we are", in dem Michael, Jürgen und Roland einigen gefährlichen Versuchungen widerstehen müssen, um am Ende für ihre Fans zu rocken.
