What Nobody Knows…
On March, 1st, 1982 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Manchester, Aaron Samuels, a.k.a. Mad Max was born to 16 year old
His first taste into the dynamics of music came in the form of the BRITS Performing Arts & Tech and it was here he honed his skill in the art of beat making. Still young at heart his rebelliousness took hold and BRITS would see less of him, deciding that the road was a more opportune way to get into the side of the music industry that he was attracted to. Mad Max graduated from BRITS at 16, an accomplishment to say the least but the future posed an uncertainty in the road he would take. His ambitious drive despite the obstacles proved to overcome and his ability and strength is what continually grounded Mad Max, procuring him his dreams of stardom.
The fast-paced journey to musical success suddenly hit an abrupt halt and at 18, criminal activities proved to be a more lucrative business for the highly talented lyricist. Moving home, into his own pad was the ultimate turning point as he was now a man, he would have to support and maintain himself and still live up to the streets where his name was now ingrained. A hard expectation to live up to, selling drugs proved to be the fastest and most efficient way to do what he had to do, but of course it came with a host of downfalls, more downs than ups. In 2001 he got his first taste of prison, on a kidnapping charge – which earned him 5 years, “I was 19… and reality hit me hard. All I remember was looking at my life and understanding what I really wanted to do and where I wanted to go.” Jail was not that place and determined not to become another statistic drawn into the system, Mad Max utilized his greatest skill and learnt how powerful it was, he started writing, mostly Hip hop bars, developing his style, he wrote about his passions, his fears, his dreams, women, drugs, violence, the streets, his streets and the life he was living.
