Mad Monk, LTD is an independent record label based in Tampa, Fl that was created through the visions of producer extraordinaire Quincy B. Scovill and US Virgin Islands/Tampa-based singer extraordinaire Francillia. In addition to writing, arranging, and producing doom metallers Peasants of Posture's CounterRevolution CD, Scovill Avenue’s Big House, and Beatnik Castle’s “Will U B Mine?” 2009 Maxi-CD single. Written, arranged, and produced by Quincy B, the original version of “Will U B Mine?” was recognized by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Committee and placed on the Official Ballot for the 2008 Grammy Awards for Best Dance Recording.
Speaking of Grammy nods, this is the second consecutive year that a Mad Monk, LTD artist was placed on the Official Ballot for the Grammy Awards. Four different songs from Mad Monk artist Peasants of Posture’s debut CD CounterRevolution (written, arranged, and produced by Quincy B) were recognized by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Committee and placed on the Official Ballot for the 2008 Grammy Awards in four different categories. Four different songs from Scovill Avenue’s debut CD Big House were on the Official Ballot for the 2009 Grammy Awards by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences in seven categories, including the coveted first three categories Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year, respectively. All nominated songs for both Peasants and Scovill Avenue (the former a gothic heavy metal group, the latter a commercial dance/R& B group) were written by Quincy B. In 2007, Quincy B and Mad Monk gained local recognition for “Ain’t No Bull,” a gothic industrial rap anthem that was a tribute to The University of South Florida Athletic teams.
Beatnik Castle, a psychedelic-trippy-hippie high-energy pop-dance outfit, features the seductive persona of Francillia. She dazzles and captivates audiences with a graceful swagger yet exemplifies the quintessential nonchalant tomboy attitude. Not only does she display qualities of poignant musical virtuosity, she’s equally and artistically tenacious and tough. Dedicated yet dazzling. Elegant, stylish and sophisticated yet somber, unorthodox, and pensive, Francillia soulfully expresses her emotional prowess through Beatnik Castle’s high-energy eclectic music. Her sultry, expressive vocals energize and invigorate souls with delicate ease; her poignant presence meticulously captures the essence of creative ingenuity. Her chic persona is in direct contrast to Quincy B. Amazingly, this eclectic blend of unique, polar opposite musicians really creates a unique blend of both old school and contemporary pop. Quincy admittedly listens to “The” groups like The Osmonds, The Archies, The Turtles, as well as “heavier” groups such as Demilich, Warrant, and Slayer; Francillia listens to Rihanna, Neo, Anita Baker, and Lady Gaga.
Believe it or not, this estranged combination performs incredibly well and efficient. It’s a unique combination of beauty and beast – a virtual collaborative yin and yang that results in effective, sensual pitchblende of diverse musical accolades as evidenced on “Will U B Mine?” Beatnik Castle’s debut CD on Tampa-based independent label Mad Monk, LTD. Released January 2009, the CD-Maxi-single features remixes and re-recordings by such dance world notables as Miami's Cato K, Lenny B, and, of course, Quincy B. The single is already taking off in Dance clubs and mix radio shows, including XM/Sirius and over 50 stations in the Northeast United States and 16 Countries in Europe. Francillia recently performed a showcase at The Winter Music Conference in Miami and is currently performing throughout the Bay Area. Quincy B is currently hard at work writing and producing “Temptation” – Francillia’s solo cd set for release in 2010.
