Traveling, photography, politics. I remember my wife and I were in Spain during the 2000 presidential elections and the fiasco that followed. Luckily I had voted early for Bush, but not being in America when news broke that the Goreacle was challenging the results was difficult. Anyway, I also love learning from shows on TV. What I really enjoy is talking with strangers. I've talked with people in most places we've traveled to, and it's interesting to listen to what they have to say. Doing that is more educational than any travel guide.
Music
Dance, House, Trance, 40s, 80s, The Gypsy Kings, Indie, New Age. NO RAP. Country in small doses, easy listening, classical, jazz, blues. I have an open ear to most kinds of music.
Movies
The Blade Trilogy, Nacho Libre, Batman (except for the ones with Val Kilmer or George Clooless), Underworld, both of them, Momento, The Usual Suspects, The Hunt for Red October, The Replacement Killers, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Trojan War, Better Off Dead, Crackers, Dog Day Afternoon, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and yes, Harry Potter.
Television
Adult Swim, Frisky Dingo, Bleach, Inuyasha, Robot Chicken, Law and Order, Take Home Chef, shows about UFOs, Bigfoot, Future Weapons, Mail Call, The Shield, Monster Quest. I don't watch any one show with regularity. I watch what's on.
Books
I've not read a book in a long time, so I can't say what I like.
Heroes
Those who defend this country. Those who act in this country's best interests. Those to protect our borders. Those who work hard but don't complain. Those with strong family values. Those who find terrorists and kill them (they DON'T have rights, the AREN'T subject to the Geneva Convention, they SHOULDN'T be subject to U.S. law). Those who work harder because they are without but don't blame anyone for their condition. Those who believe in INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY.
A special word to our ever growing government in Washington D C
“I place economy among the first and most important virtues, and public debt as the greatest of dangers to be feared. To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt…If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretense of caring for them, they will be happy.” Thomas Jefferson
This is what independece is all about. I will not become dependent on our government to take care of me and my family
I just came across this - see below - thanks to Bob Campbell at the American Grand Jury which is deeply touching - so much that it brought many tears to my eyes as I listened to it. Choking up on this one should give you a very deep sense of what it truly means to be an American. Here's the link and PLEASE BE SURE TO SHARE THIS FAR AND WIDE:
Happy 4th of July! Have a safe Holiday; it’s the most important one in America. Love of your country is important! We will turn our country around! As for the socialist and communist bastards, if they don’t like it, they can get the hell out and take Perez Hilton with them! God Bless America! -Bo
Remember why the 4th is to be celebrated... we are perilously close to losing our freedoms (check my blog "With Liberty Comes Duty"...written by a friend of mine). July 4th is more than the opportunity to shoot fireworks and cookout.
In July 4, 1776, our forefathers signed this declaration, sealing our recognition as a nation and our independence from Britain. Remember their sacrifices and efforts.
But we must be vigilant to protect our freedoms...
"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."- Colossians 4:2
Diggin' the Schoolhouse Rock depiction of “the pursuit of happiness” - but given our current state of affairs, I think it's important to point out that the dude chasing the girl in the video is either 1)single, or 2)married and chasing his hawt wife ;)
