Influences
MADRUM draws its inspiration from various musical traditions using sound and rhythm as a vehicle for authentic expression. Their work is infused with a sense of the sacred and reflects a deep longing. Music is seen as a form through which the inner landscape is brought into being.
They have a sensitive and considered approach to their work which produces a powerful and unique sound: yearning, lyrical, and, at times, explosive.
Emotion and passion are expressed in songs, soundscapes, chants, and rhythm. They use combinations of voice, Indian harmonium, guitar, keyboards, and sequencers, and a wide range of percussion instruments to reflect their interest in multi-cultural styles of music.
Influences include: Lisa Gerrard, Dead Can Dance, Chloe Goodchild, Classical Music, Folk music such as Dougie Maclean, June Tabor, Arvo Part, John Tavener, Sheila Chandra, Indian Music, Middle Eastern music, Jewish music, Choral music, Drum Corps International, the Naked Voice.
GAVIN FRANK has been involved in music from choirboy to Ba Hons Music Degree. He has studied with international voice teacher and performer, Chloe Goodchild for the last 6 years , completing the "NAKED VOICE" and "FACILITATOR" Trainings.
