Influences
Since all the guys have such diverse musical backgrounds, you would have to say their influences range from, Classical to Blues, Scotch/Irish folk and bagpipe music to 70's and 80's power pop, Classic 80's metal to Bluegrass, Cool Jazz to Arena Rock.
Like all good rock bands, Mad World came to life in a garage. In the summer of 2003, Jimmy Kleary, Joe Diehl, Scott Hurst, Bruce McKern, and Kevin McKern came together in the Mckern Garage and Mad World was born. A few years back, the Mckern brothers and Scott Hurst made up 3/5 of the "Rogues". Playing all over southern oregon, the hot spots and the not so hot spots. They recorded one album "Half The World Away".
In early 2001 the brothers met joe at a session the three of them were called in to play on. The brothers and joe each thought to them selves "Man I'd like to be in a band with that guy". Not long before that, joe had moved from the bay area where he was a well known guitarist in many bands including "JGB". In 2002, joe and the brothers got together to make up 3/4 of the Blues/Rock/sideshow, band "Somebody and the So and So's". At the end of that year joe moved out of the area and Jimmy was asked to come and play, Jimmy came to the Rogue Valley from Sacramento where he was an in demand vocalist and performed with many groups including "Steel Breeze", but before the So and So's got up and running again, the other original member left the area. And then there were three ! Knowing that they had found the voice they had been looking for, for a long time, the brothers introduced Jimmy to a huge catalog of songs they had been writing, recording, and hording in their garage. Knowing this was too much fun to be just a recording project, they called scott and he came in with a bunch of great tunes. Trying to find a second guitarist proved to be a little trying, but then one day the phone rang and it was joe saying he was moving back to the area and wondered if there was any music happening. If nothing else, this band proves that you never give up, you never say never and every once in a while things do line up right.

There is currently a search for two types of bands for record label consideration.
*** Note: PLEASE IDENTIFY IF YOU ARE IN GROUP 1 OR 2 IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR RESPONSE. Emails are being reviewed by different representatives.
1. A Pop/Rock/Commercial band with female lead. Band must consist of 2 guitars (Prefer both guitar players to be of lead caliber. However, one lead and one rhythm is acceptable), keyboard/piano, bass, and drums. Lead vocal, followed by backing vocals, in that order, is a plus as it relates to other members of the group. Average age of the band cannot exceed 28 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
2. A Modern Rock band with male lead. Must be a complete band but there are no prerequisites as it relates to the make up of the band. Average age of the band cannot exceed 23 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
