One would think that a Biography would be the suitable thing to post here in this section. And I'm more than positive that everyone actually taking time to read this section is dying to know my every step and development of music since I was a "wee lil' lad"......but alas it would be slightly hypocritical of me to do so, since I am not the type of person to base my opinions of other musicians/writers on what experiences they have or lack. I've worked with educators and I've worked with freelancers. I've worked with professionals and also with those that just love music. Readers, By Ear-ers (haha you like that?), Improvisors, Students, Conductors, Directors, Hired Guns and Jammers (just to name a...lot haha). My point is that in every situation, I have considered and appreciated "bios" or "resumes", but usually hearing for myself what an individual has to give is the best way to determine if they are a great musician.
Nonetheless, I'm sure most people wonder how someone can be so variably influenced. It's probably not too uncommon in composers nowadays, but I'll list some pieces I've done in the past (even though you can't technically hear them all on here) and add a little note or two that may help some of you understand the unstable form of thinking......which I'm sure all writers posses:
"Carnival"
"Spooky Waltz"
"Circus In Flight!"
Tell me a story!! Be as detailed or as vague as you like. Tell me the story again...a love affair from beyond the grave, a two-headed girl that thinks we are the freaks, a clown that loves his balloon so much he'd die for it! Tell me your story and next time it is told, it may be told thru music!
"Patriots' Hymn"
"Drum Corps Triumphant"
...always a fan and love the energy and experience of marching and playing brass! Writing for any type of marching ensemble thrills me beyond belief. It's always entertaining creating, hearing and feeling the energy this kind of ensemble can produce. Patriots' Hymn was written in tribute to my marching experiences and Drum Corps Triumphant was written for the hell of it along with a drummer I knew back in high school....funny how thinking one can write for DCI can drive you to produce an entire score.
"Project 4"
"Montage" Project 4 was originally the 4th piece of music I "wrote" when I first started toying around with composition techniques. It was a wind ensemble piece submitted twice to national youth composer type competitions. Amateur though it was, that very same piece inspired me years later when revisted and reorchestrated to found a new project "MAESTRO!". Music and Energy! Elements of orchestral symphonies and funk bands combined. Energy as great as a marching band or a black metal drummer on crack!! Well, that's the idea, at least haha. Montage is a project still underway....the same concept of a rock orchestra, but following more along the lines of a symphony. Ideally the Montage will be a reflective piece for anyone with major life-changing events.
"Halloweentime: According to the UNdead"
This is what I believe would happen if a bunch of dead musicians came back to serenade us during our most beloved holiday. But that's just my opinion.
