George Shaw is a rapidly rising composer who has worked on Hollywood and independent films. He is a versatile composer with the skill for crafting rich orchestral tapestries as well as producing cutting edge sounds to match the visual images in movies.
Shaw is currently scoring TREASURE OF THE TEMPLARS, an Indiana Jones fan film, which has been dubbed the “True Indy 4” by diehard fans all around the world. A true labor of love, the feature-length film was shot on a shoestring in three countries over four years, and boasts impressive production values. Recent films include MARCUS, which was recently released on DVD by Warner Home Videos, and the score album released by Movie Score Media. J-OK’EL (starring Tom Parker, Dee Wallace) had a theatrical release in Mexico, and the music won a Gold Medal for Artistic Excellence at the 2007 Park City Film Music Festival, which claims to be "the first film festival in the world singularly recognizing the contributions of composers and their music to film." PURITY also won a Gold Medal for Best Impact of Music at the 2006 festival, in addition to two Gold Medals Shaw garnered for Best Impact of Music in animation and a Gold Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Film Music Composition for Independent Film.
In addition to composing, Shaw has orchestrated on a number of films, including GHOST RIDER (starring Nicolas Cage), DARWIN AWARDS (starring Winona Ryder, Joseph Fiennes), KISS, KISS, BANG, BANG (starring Val Kilmer, Robert Downey Jr.), ROBOTECH: THE SHADOW CHRONICLES, and CHASING GHOSTS (starring Michael Madsen). Shaw’s string arrangements and orchestrations can also be heard on Nural’s debut album “The Weight of the World” from Hopeless Records, and singer/songwriter Kari Kimmel’s first solo album “A Life in the Day.”
Shaw studied composition and film scoring at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, taking part in its world-class Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program. He also participated in the 2004 ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop and the 9th Annual BMI Conducting Workshop. Shaw is a 2007 fellow in Film Independent’s Project: Involve, a filmmaker mentorship program that paired him with Emmy-nominated composer Christopher Lennertz (MEET THE SPARTANS, ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS, MEDAL OF HONOR: EUROPEAN ASSAULT, SUPERNATURAL).
Shaw plays clarinet, piano, guitar, and a variety of exotic woodwind instruments from around the world, and is currently training to become a virtuoso Rockband videogame drummer. George resides in Los Angeles, where he can surf and snowboard in the same day.

How are you George... Just one hello passing through your great music... The Life of a man is made up of a series of dreams which write our history, as well as our children, who then start to write their own. I decided to continue writing mine as soon as I began to dream in early childhood. One doesn't need to stop the journey along the way. It is necessary to believe that the stars which light our way will never go out, and to continue to follow our dreams which inspire us in the most beautiful moments of our lives. If not, why is my star helping me to write so many fine melodies? I composed a suite for my dream, called " Melody for an Oscar", and I am convinced that one day someone will help me to reach for that Oscar in Hollywood, which I have always imagined in my dreams. No matter what, my dreams have enhanced my musical creativity, and for that I am thankful. Warmest regards, Didier EUZET http://www. oscarmelody. com
Your music for Treasure of the Templars sounds very interesting, very Williams-esque, but with its own mysterious spin. Your theme for the Templar is especially good, I'd love to hear it in a full orchestra.
Its a shame that you weren't able to use Williams' "Raiders March" in your score. Was it a conscious decision on your part not to use the theme, or was it an issue with obtaining the rights to the music?
Great job on the clarinet part too,id do anything to have an opprutuinty to do what you have.I cant wait until college to start learning more about music.I think your a wonderful composer, keep up the good work. I also listened to some of your other peices as well thumbs up!
