About me:

I.m a Swedish proffesional "Gothic bellydancer" (-pioneer) and instructor living in Gothenburg.

I can engages for dancing-performance, workshop, seminar (dancing- seminars or speaking- seminars), dancing to live-band at stage, coach for band/ artist(s) before stage/ performance (also beside of all bellydance moves), hen- party or other special affairs and in different consistency.

First I want to make things clear about the dance. I do not see the moves like: sensual or erotic. This gothic style it´s different and seperated from the regular/ traditional oriental dance moves and the meaning within. I change "erotic" to "mystical", to give a concrete examples. I see te moves like: fufilled with energy, power and (bubbling) feelings related to the message I want to bring out. I use my hole body to express. My relationship to Gothic bellydance is at a spiritual (Christian)way. That..s why I usually call my dance: "Spiritual Gothic belldance".

BACKGROUND:

I..ve been dancing oriental dance since 2003 for different proffessional Swedish, Egyptian and American (Gothic bellydance/tribal/fusion-) teachers. I dance Gothic bellydance regular by my self and have done this since the winter 2007. I also dance "ATS" in courses. In May 22th- 23th 2009 I had the possibility to bring this dance for the first time to the christian alternative scene through the christian festival: "Elements of rock". Hope it will inspire pepople and the alternative scene.

MY DANCE:

The style I dance have the inspiration of this alternative bellydance styles: Gothic, Tribal and ATS (more information about this styles: scroll down)). But also: Egyptian folklore, cabaré style and gospel dance.

When I do performance- solo I have a special goal: to dance with a spiritual (Christian) focus to alternative music like: goth/rock/metal/industrial/electronic etc. It..s about symbols and mystic at a dramatic, in a deep-feeling way with a lot of attitude. But I also do performance free from this spiritual focus. Which focus I have in my dance depends on demand and in which consistency I performance. The design of the dance kan also depends on certain desire and "proposition".

COURSES/ WORKSHOPS:

Beside physical dance-workshops I can engages as a speaker about the dance in many directions: the "alternative" dance, bellydance or general about dance. I think I have much thoughts, visions and experience I can inspire people with. My focus at following physical dans- workshops will be: "body", "soul" and "spirit". It..s a lot about deep, individual feelings and contact with yourself connected to your body. You can reality to any religion/ believes or not. I have created a new dance for the gothic bellydance scene, it..s ATS/ITS- moves called "Gothic circle" (more info at: description of the Gothic style down here).....Stay in touch for comming workshops! A VISION: to gather all Christian, alternative "oriental" dancers to have contact, exchange ideas, having dance festivals and dance/pray together. Contact me if you find this interesting! :)



ALTERNATIVE BELLYDANCE STYLES:

"Gothic bellydance":

It..s a oriental dance with a gothic feeling in a "cabaré- style" with lots of drama. The clothes are dark/alternative. You use "isolation-technique", Which mean that you have focus at small muscles one in time. To interpret this dance you use a a lot of drama and a speciel story/message to tell the audience and you also use mystic and attitude. The music is "alternative" like; goth,metal,rock,electronic musik ets. You can use propertise like: Sword, fans, vail, knife/ knifes, candle, fire in many ways etc.

"Gothic circle": A group dance with a (changing) leader and with special movements to change with. The influence are: Israel folklore style, ATS (American tribal style.info about this style: scroll down))and Gothic fusion. The start- position are few movements in a circle. The leader go on with ATS moves and also three different movements in the circle: "the eight"/"snake", "gothic/mystical moves" and "singel impro" in the ring. You can also split up the circle to a halv- circle.



"Fusion" as a conception:

Dance- conception which discribes that the dance are inspired to other movements then the traditional (oriental) style, for examples the "flamenco arms". You usually combinate gothic bellydance with "fusion" ( "gothic fusion bellydance")just to distinguish this unique style from a traditional oriental style. Fusion is a name that give space to other inspiration and give freedom and a personal touch into the dance. To bring space to do something new and crative with the dance however it..s tribal, ATS or Gothic bellydance.

"Tribal bellydance":

This tribal style comes from the group- dance: ATS (American tribal style). As in gothic bellydance you use isolation-technique. But instead of a lot drama and attitude you go on with the isolation in many combinations almost non stop. This type of alternative style has its focus in: clear, mark moves in tact to the music with expression included. You use "isolation-technique", which mean that you have focus at small muscles one in time. Influence to this dance is: modern dance, jazz, hip hop (specially locking and the isolation- techniqe, flamenco, african dance ets. To interpret this dance you use drama and a special story/message. Music for this dance is wide. The music can be for examples: club/funky music with oriental influence.

"ATS":

"American Tribal Style". This dance is created by Carolena Nericcio from San Fransisco (USA) in 1987. From this style all other alternative styles begin to take form. It made a "create- thinking" to develope from the traditional oriental dance. The name (tribal) describe the dancers working together as a gruop with a "tribal" look. In ATS you dance in a group with a leader and use few famous and special movements. The leader use few famous signals to change movements in the dance. The general and special description- word for ATS is: powerful and strong women, grovy, grand, down-to-earth and you are also in the dance with finger- cymbals. The clothes are folkloric with big shirts, lots of bling bling and often with a turban. There..s also "ITS" (improvisation tribal style) where you use many "ATS"- moves but with improvisation beside the rules of "ATS". The music is often: Medieval music, music from the "balkan" etc.
