Dave: Habitual doomsayer, naysayer and malcontent. Born under a bad sign, in a crossfire hurricane, on the wrong side of the tracks, on the Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Clichesville, USA.
Maggie: The one that has to put up with the habitual doomsayer, naysayer, and malcontent. Born with "flowers in her hair," and an optimist at heart.
One wonders how we get along, no?
Dave: The "flowers" were roses, the obstetrician poked the shit out of himself, and now you know why I manage our finances.
Music
Dave: Heavy Metal, '80s Punk, real Country (Hank Sr. & Jr., Grandpa Jones, Johnny Horton, Boxcar Willie, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Bobby Bare, etc.), traditional Irish, Scottish and American music, Alternative, Classical/neo-Romantic (esp. Beethoven, Mozart, Liszt, Sibelius, Grieg, Wagner, Schubert, Strauss), Oldies, Synth Music (Jarre, Vangelis, Kitaro, etc.), Blues, Southern Boogie, and the sound of one hand clapping.
Maggie: Everything else not mentioned above (i.e. Disco, New Country -- which grates Dave's nerves -- and mid-70's).
Movies
Dave's Favorites: Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Excalibur, Dune, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Shining, The Graduate, Fallen Angels, Nomad: The Warrior, The Long Riders, Sonatine, Killer Elite, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Mongol, Rollerball, Braveheart, Gods and Generals and all sorts of other shit: Chop-socky, Horror, Sci-Fi, Westerns, Anime, B-movies/Grindhouse, Foreign films.
Maggie's favorites: Dave has mentioned quite a few of my favorites, however, they did not include: Gone With The Wind, Fried Green Tomatoes, Steel Magnolias, The Thing, Alien, Predator, Blade Runner, Apocalypto, The Silk Road, Tombstone, Silverado, Strange Brew, Animal House, It Happened in The Rain, Lost in Space, and many others.
Television
We don't watch television.
Books
Joseph Conrad, G.K. Chesterton, Bert Vincent, T.S. Eliot, W.B. Yeats, Jim Goad, Marc "Animal" MacYoung, William Faulkner, Lewis Grizzard, William Shakespeare, Sir Walter Scott, Mark Twain, Barry Eisler, Liam Jackson, Edgar Allen Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Ambrose Bierce, Arthur Machen, E.C. Tubb, Jack Vance, Roger Zelazny, Frank Herbert, Andrew Vachss, Kurt Saxon, Jonathan Swift, Clive Barker, Ayn Rand, H. Beam Piper, Robert Heinlein, John Myers Myers, John Kennedy Toole, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Washington Irving, Lao Tzu, Sun Tzu, Musashi Miyamoto, Juvenal, Dante Alighieri, and the guy who writes the clever graffiti on the men's room wall at work.
Maggie: Dave has often said, "To be a good writer, you have to be a voracious reader." And though he has mentioned many authors whose works I have enjoyed, I am far from putting the "voracious" into my reading habits. So I'll leave my favorites for another time.
Dave: William Wallace, Brian Boru, Thomas Jefferson, Sluggo, Spook, Marc "Animal" MacYoung, Andrew Jackson, Hugh O'Donnell, Owain Glyndwr, Henry V (of England), Guy Fawkes, Nathanael Greene, Robert E. Lee, "Stonewall" Jackson, J.E.B. Stuart, Ulysses S. Grant, Wyatt Earp, "Doc" Holliday, Jesse James, St. Paul, St. John, Thomas a Beckett, Boadicea, Nathan Hale, Ned Kelly, Alp Arslan, Kiang Hsi, and thousands of lesser-known men and women who've put their lives on the line for their convictions.
Maggie: Dave's choices include our history's finest men, and, overall, they mirror my own choices. In this case, I'll mention my current-day heroes: Marc "Animal" MacYoung, Wayne, Spook, and David Jefferson Bean.

About me: Dave: As you may have gathered, my name's Dave. I'm Maggie's insanely jealous husband and co-writer. When not coping with the effects of severe paranoia, manic-depression and multiple personality disorder, I can usually be found cleaning my large collection of high-powered rifles and/or writing -- usually about high-powered rifles, multiple personality disorder (under several pen names), manic-depression, paranoia and all the guys I just know are plotting to poison me and steal my wife.
Assuming that the preceding paragraph hasn't frightened you off already, I'll reveal a bit more about myself -- for a nominal fee. (What, you don't have any money? Guess you don't work for AIG, eh?)
All bullshit aside, I'm a typical "starving artist" type. To keep the bills paid, I work in retail -- the prolapsed anus of the business world. In addition to doing various odd jobs (extortion, gun-running, bootlegging, counterfeiting -- the least lucrative, owing to the rate of inflation -- petty graft, etc.), my wife and I also write. So far, we've sold a couple of pieces to a North Carolina-based magazine, but I hope to move up to the "bigtime" soon: Penthouse Letters.
Unlike my wife, who confines herself to a few familiar topics, I write about damn-near anything that strikes my fancy: guns, survival, my wayward youth, politics, religion, gardening, cooking, martial arts, improvised weaponry, anger management, herbal medicine, travel, genealogy, history, books, music, and the Jewish conspiracy to steal my tinfoil hat. When the nice men in the white coats let me have my crayons, I even scribble out the odd bit of fiction.
Lessee... What else? I'm 41. I live in Roswell, Georgia. I'm an anarchist with strong theocractic leanings (or is it the other way around?). I despise consumerism, celebrity-worship, and all things Hegelian, Kantian, Machiavellian, Orwellian, Keynesian, Hitlerian, Marxist, Stalinist and Neocon. Oh, and I think Freud, Nietzsche and Rousseau were full of shit, as well.
But I suppose that's enough about me. I'll leave the rest to Maggie.
Maggie West (Bean) here (yes, we're married):
I write nonfiction, normally. Relationship issues, gardening, current affairs, and the trials and tribulations of being with my better half (The proprietor of Green Hell) in a section called "Bean Pods" are mainstays on my website: www.maggiewest.typepad.com
Recently, Dave and I have begun a fictional piece entitled "Georgia's Fortress." It started out as our "playtime" and became a full-fledged novel, which we hope to complete by spring of 2009. Interested? Just go to the aformentioned website and click on the link at the top of the page to read our first chapter. We've edited the first five parts (more on the way).
I am, by no means "normal" or "average." There is definitely an immature side that matches the mature one, a gullible side that matches the intelligent one, and an unguarded side equaling my perceptive and conceptive natures. The cheery, fun, forgiving aspects of my personality are overshadowed by darkness and gloom from time to time. So readers beware.
My "better half" (www.mygreenhell.typepad.com) and I are now writing for a monthly publication: Latitude Magazine based in North Carolina. We will be visiting historic sites in Georgia and the Carolinas through 2009 and writing articles on our travels. If the mood strikes, one can subscribe to the publication and the magazine will mail out a copy each month to the specified address: www.latitudemagazine.com
Believe me, it will be well worth it!
A quote from one of Green Hell's readers: "I would rather give you the plane ticket for my next vacation in Mexico and have you write about it. When I read what you've written, I vividly see myself there -- with you. Your stories are so very entertaining and much better than anything I could ever come up with."
On that page are twitter links so those with twitter can tweet! (Would be kinda fun to be a trending topic!!) Now off you go, and have fun. Let's get the hit counters on the videos jumping!! And don't forget my interview over at Blazing Trailers... http://blazingtrailers.blogspot.com/2009/10/meet-cat-connor.html
Happy Monday! (Or enjoy the end of your weekend if you haven't made it to Monday yet!) I have a new interview up at Bookwenches: We discuss killerbyte, new projects, music, and death threats...
