A native of Cape Cod, Maggie Carchrie has made a name for herself as one of the top Scottish Gaelic singers in the US. She has studied extensively in Cape Breton and Scotland under such noted Gaelic singers as Cathy Ann MacPhee, Christine Primrose, Màiri MacInnes and Rona Lightfoot, and won the gold medal in Gaelic Singing at the 1995 US Mòd.
Maggie's début album, Songs the Mermaid Sang, in 1997, and in 2000 she released the album Rù-Rà with her husband, keyboardist and percussionist Thomas Leigh. Maggie and Thomas perform at Celtic festivals and Highland Games across the US. In 2005, a son, Rory, joined the musical family.
