Bio
Maggie MacKay grew up in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, where she the took the advantage of the opportunity to study fiddle, saxophone, guitar and bass. At seventeen Maggie found her first banjo under the Christmas tree and began studying with professional musicians and songwriters Ryan and Roxeen Roberts. After a year attending Dalhousie University in Halifax for psychology and neuroscience Maggie applied Berklee College of Music. She began the following year as the school’s first female banjo player. She is currently in her senior year at Berklee, majoring in professional music with an emphasis on songwriting. Maggie is a member of bluegrass band Chasing Blue, and The Goodtime Stringband. She has also appeared with Amy Black and the Red Clay Rascals, The Whiskey Boys, The Strangeboy’s, and others. Some memorable stages she has played include the Station Inn, Nashville, the Ryman Auditorium, the Cantab Lounge, and the showcase stage at the Joe Val Festival. Maggie has been featured on professional projects by Paul Dunn, Mike Agentis, David Von Sell, and Whitney Wolf. ............ .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... ......................
