MAGGIE ROSS has been a well known and respected name on the North East music scene for many years. Early in 2009, a chance meeting with an old friend led her to a local gig.......where time slipped back a decade or three.......as the band, "The Bushwackers", included ex Greg Burman bass player, John Chaytor, and ex Animals drummer Dave Dodsworth......respected musos from waaaay back!!! Maggie was invited to sing a few songs with them...... and Old Friends Reunited had a great night!!! A couple of months later, just as Maggie was looking for a new direction.....John and Dave suggested they should work together. After trying several guitarists, they finally found just the right man in Martin Craggs....... Maggie had her new band!!! The band cover an eclectic range of material .... adding their own inimitable style to a hard hitting mix of blues, rock and soul, including classics by Janis Joplin, Etta James, the Rolling Stones, Free etc. FOR BOOKINGS CONTACT: maggierossblues@sky.com Photobucket PHOENIX BLUES are a natural development of the band’s passion for that genre. In Blues venues, they pay tribute to iconic names such as Koko Taylor, B B King, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Stevie Ray Vaughan etc. ..... and include a number of self-penned songs. All members of the band continue to be involved with other projects from time to time:- the Dodd is drummer with "The Alligators" (fronted by Doctor Feelgood vocalist, Robert Kane), John and Martin do occasional gigs with "The Zimmers" and Maggie regularly guests with bands in the UK and in Spain, as well as recording with musicians here and in USA.
