The Magic of Eyri (pronounced AIR-EE) is the first of what Daniel J. Hogan hopes to be a series of "Fantasy-Comedy-Adventure" stories. Its humorous blend of fantasy-novel staples (talking animals, walking, magic, looking for magical items, and more walking) will - hopefully - delight readers looking for a different, yet quirky, type of adventure story.

The story involves a thirteen year old boy by the name of Steve and his Uncle Shameless. Steve is originally from a bland and boring suburb from the east side of Michigan called Beacon Pines, but his parents decided to have him spend his summer in the mid-Michigan town of River City with Uncle Shameless (Steve wanted to go to computer camp).

Thanks to his school no longer teaching art, music, or anything fun in favor of more science and math, Steve has all the imagination and creativity of a loaf of stale bread. Because of this, he has a rather difficult time coming to grips with the quest thrust upon him after being whisked away to the magical (and wacky) word of Eyri.

After arriving in Eyri, Steve learns that he is part of a mysterious prophecy that says he will free the land from the rule of the vile Hawk King. During his quest, Steve assembles an odd mix of animal-people friends including a senile blue heron mystic, a friendly pelican-lady healer, a duck who gets sea-sick and a bounty hunter with a fondness for cooking.

Can a smart-mouth kid from the suburbs survive this new (and wacky) fantasy world? Can Steve fulfill The Prophecy? Why IS his uncle named Shameless? Find all this out and and more in, The Magic of Eyri, "Your Next Favorite Fantasy-Comedy-Adventure Book."

This book is recommended for readers age 13 and up.

The book is also available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. (you can even special order the book at a B&N store if you don't want to buy a copy online).

Hope you had fun at KAFI. I wanted to be there. Do you know why GVSU didn't send a team?
