"The Black Stallion", based on the book written by Walter Farley, has got to be my favorite movie of all times!
I learned how to read before I ever set a foot in a schoolroom. And I have never quit. I will read anything I get my hands on. I don't care what it is. I read labels on cans, newspapers, magazines, doesn't matter. I like whoever writes the biggest, thickest books. I like them to be at least partially based in fact or historical correctness. I love to read gardening books. "Aztec" by Gary Jennings was probably the very best non-religious book I ever read in my life, about the history of the Aztecs. The Book "The Desire Of Ages" and "Daniel & The Revelation" the two best religous books. The Bible, of course, takes first place of all. It was horrible when I had to decide whether to get bifocals and look like an old lady, or whether I wanted to read. I got the bifocals. I can't live without reading.
I will turn this flag right side up when: 1) Bush/Cheney are no longer in the White House 2) There are no longer any US troops in Iraq 3)The Patriot Act has been repealed & our rights restored 4) All Americans have access to health, dental, & vision care 5) The US Govt. no longer imprisons innocent children 6) Animal Testing is ended and American horses are no longer slaughtered

THE ASSAULT ON THE US CONSTITUTION
The assault on the US Constitution and the resultant loss of civil liberties and habeas corpus in this country is something that every American should be horrified by. Our country is being turned into a despotic fascism, and a police state, where our government can throw us into a detainment camp at any time, and where we will have no rights whatsoever. No right to legal counsel, no right to habeas corpus, no rights at all. Our Constitution has been shredded to bits, and the current administration considers it "outdated" and valueless. This is the same Constitution that our forefathers fought and died for. And I for one am not going to condone it. Our government was intended to be "of the people, by the people, and FOR the people". Not of Bush, by Bush, and for Bush.
Our president has lied to us about almost everything: about 9/11, and about the reasons for attacking Iraq (non-existent WMD's), and he has signed policies into effect in secrecy from the American public and hidden from Congress. He has condoned the use of torture in American prisons. This administration has violated International Treaties, broken the Geneva Convention laws on the treatment of prisoners of war, and defied the United Nations, and has committed war crimes which are severely punishable crimes, and which are impeachable offenses. Almost 2,000,000 innocent civilian women and children have been massacred in Iraq on the basis of LIES. This is GENOCIDE. The same thing Hitler did! And now he wants to broaden his sweep of genocidal massacres to Iran and probably wherever else he can think of, in his mad craze for taking over the oil of the Middle East.
Our president has violated the law over 750 times by making "signing statements" in opposition and direct defiance to laws and statutes passed legally by our Congress, making our democratic process null and void. He has basically declared himself a dictator. We MUST stand up for the rights endowed to the citizens of this country, which are embodied in our Constitution and our Bill of Rights.
Over the last 7 years, our country has turned into a place of division, conflict, injustice, and hatred. American people have been divided by racism, religious schisms, and intolerance. This is not the America we used to be so proud of. REAL Americans are compassionate, humane, tolerant of others' differences, and supportive of others' rights. We now have an unprecedented level of police brutality and hate crimes, children are being imprisoned in detainment camps, and our state prisons have been taken over by private prison corporations who are greedily making money hand over fist off the misery of the victims of the "War on Drugs".
Over 47 million people in this country have no access to health care. We have a president who thinks it is more important to build prisons than to let our children have health care, and who thinks it's ok for toddlers to be locked up in prisons. Our Social Security Administration is going down the drain. Our government has passed laws which say they can wiretap American citizens phones and emails without a court order. They can enter our homes without a warrant. They want to give us all Real ID's with barcodes and microchips so they can track us and even listen to our private conversations.

STANDING UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT
Recently, I started looking things up on YouTube, watching
videos about all the things that are going on in this world. It was shocking to
see all the suffering, genocide, war, torture, destruction, oppression, hatred,
disregard for all life, planetary distress, and abusive governmental policies
that are happening in almost every country on this earth. It is so much more
shocking when you can actually see these things on film, and happening to real
people.
I have spent many a sleepless night, and cried many tears, over
what people are doing to other people. So I resolved to do whatever I can,
whenever and wherever I can, even if it is only to gravitate towards
other people who feel the same way I do about these issues. I think people
everywhere are doing the same; moving closer to each other - there is strength
and comfort in numbers in times of great crisis or need. Which is what the
situation is now.
A person should stand for something. Either for
good, or for bad. There is no in-between, no gray area. And now is the time
for all good people to stand up for what is right.
BIG MONEY INTERESTS, GREED, POWER STRUGGLES,
DISREGARD FOR CIVIL & HUMAN RIGHTS, LACK OF COMPASSION
Some of the issues I am most concerned about are the genocides occurring
in places like Darfur, Tibet, China, Iraq, and Lebanon. I find the policies of
the current Administration very disturbing. I think it is horrible that the
welfare of human beings and the ecosystem of our home, the earth, are taking a
back seat to big money interests, greed, & power struggles. I am worried
about the loss of our civil and human rights. I am disgusted with how
human beings treat other human beings, and by the lack of respect, tolerance, or
compassion in people anymore. I know most people in my country are better
than that. And I think you know it, too.
MY BLOG ON CURRENT WORLD ISSUES - STRENGTH IN
NUMBERS
So I invite you to my blog - where I will be writing about issues
and current events of paramount importance to us all. I hope you will
participate, to at least inform yourselves, or to share your ideas,
knowledge, and feelings. The purpose is for intelligent, objective, and
well-informed people with compassion and rationality in their hearts, to come
together and learn and to discuss. NOT to denigrate, nor to attack
others. If that is your intent, leave and don't come back. It is of no consequence here which political party you are affiliated with, nor what religion you are, nor what color your skin is, nor any other factor that may tend to separate one human from another. We have all had enough of being separated over the last 7 years. The REAL American Way is to allow others their beliefs and freedom of expression with a spirit of acceptance and tolerance. I consider myself a Democrat, but if the Republican Party should suddenly demonstrate views closer to my own I would be a Republican. Although I don't think there's much danger of that! The reason the world is in the mess it is in is because people are so intolerant of each others' differences.

I am an RN/writer/webmaster who lives in Kentucky. I have been working since the year 2000 supporting H.503 and S.311 to stop the slaughter and the transportation of US horses for the purpose of slaughter. And now an activist for changes for good. I am a simple person, with simple needs and tastes. A real person. I love
God and life. I love all the beautiful things that God has made for us, all of
God's wondrous creation, and all of the highest principles and aspirations that
He has given us. I believe that there is a right and wrong. I believe that God
wants us to be happy and to love one another. I am an RN and I have taken care
of people all of my life, since I was 3 years old. I was born a caretaker -
there's no reason to stop now. I couldn't if I tried. I have studied philosophy
and all religions, and searched all my life for the truth and for the meaning of
everything that happens in this world. I believe that I will live to see
the Second Coming of Jesus Christ in my lifetime, and I believe that his arrival
in the sky with all the angels is IMMINENT!

going on in the world and what our stance should be, and about everything that's
good and positive in life, too.

EQUINE RESCUE INFORMATION AND RESOURCES
This page is an extension of "Magic Star Equine Rescue", an Equine Rescue Information and Resources website that I built a couple of years ago. I am a horse lover and I can not tolerate the idea of horses being slaughtered/& or transported for the purpose of slaughter in the United States, to be cruelly butchered into meat that will be eaten in Belgium or France. We Americans DO NOT EAT HORSES! Horses are beautiful, intelligent, and loving creatures that only want to please us, and it is totally unacceptable for them to be tortured and slaughtered inhumanely just because someone got tired of them. Although the last slaughterhouse in the US was closed down on Sept. 22, 2007, "killer buyers" are compensating by continuing to purchase horses at US horse auctions and transporting even more horses across our borders to Mexico and Canada to be slaughtered there. The transportation of American horses across our borders to be brutally slaughtered for consumption in other countries must be stopped!

For 30 years, Jan Haagensen has been harassed and her farm in PA invaded with impunity by hunters, and her NO HUNTING signs and fences repeatedly torn down. 10 years ago, she had had enough, and approached the trespassing hunters to ask them to leave, and asked a hunter engaged in illegal hunting to cease and desist. When a hunter threatened to shoot her and her mother, she called police, which sided chummily with the hunters, and later charged her with 5 counts of "hunter harassment". The "kangaroo court" convicted her on all 5 counts. Being an attorney, she appealed to the appellate court and won, and is now challenging the PA Hunter Harassment Statute in federal court as being unconstitutional for inhibiting free speech and violating property rights. If she wins, doors will be open for challenging the equally unconstitutional Hunter Harassment laws of other states.
