Hard to believe, isn't it?
Well let me tell you my story to help validate this claim.
My Background...
In 1997 I began an 11 year insurance sales career that taught me a lot about the conventional sales world. I used old school prospeting methods(cold calls, buying direct mail leads,calling lists) to find clients ready to buy my insurance products. I then had to chase them until they either bought from me or told me to go to drop dead. I was either making 100 phone calls a day, or on a face to face appointment across town on most evenings and weekends.
Sounds like fun huh?
I was fortunate enought to consistenly make over 100K a year doing it this way. But I gotta tell you, after 11 years of doing it that way, it didn't matter how much money I was making because I was burned out and needed to make a change. I had zero "time money freedom" and had to give up too much of my life to grit out that income.
Did I mention I have never had any computer experience other than sending emails?
The Problem...
First of all, don't get me wrong, I do believe in a good education. Unfortunatly, your average college education teaches very little about running a profitable business. The standard education system teaches you to have a great resume to be employable. Therein lies the problem. As long as you are an employee, you are trading "time for dollars" and have a ceiling on your income level. You cannot use LEVERAGE when you work for someone. Robert Kiyosaki(see video) explains that people that have true wealth are not employess, but are investors and business owners utilizing LEVERAGE.
Case in point: Even though I have a bachelor's degree, and have had a few regular jobs before my insurance career, all those experiences never prepared me to build my own business.
The second part of the problem is the amount of bad information & biased uneducated opinions of people that really know nothing about this industry. It never made sense to me how my broke uncle kept telling me I was in one of those "pyramid" schemes while he lived paycheck to paycheck with no retirement.
Finally, most of the business skills being taught today is outdated & worthless!!!!!!!!!!! I'm here to tell you from experience that passing out business cards, putting up flyers, and chasing family & friends to come to home meetings to buy vitamins DOES NOT WORK.
The Solution...
These are the rules I followed to go from networking mediocrity to rising top money earner in just a few months. I consider these things absolutely essential, meaning if you don't follow them all, you will ultimatley fail.....
1. I made the decision to never quit. I can't overstate this enough, but making a solid commitment to change your situation no matter what challenges you face is key. You must think like and entrepreneur and not an employee. You will defintaly be tested, I can assure you.
2. I searched for other top earners who were getting the results I wanted. I learned that they were building there business empires a completely different way than 97% of everyone else who was failing. So I duplicated what they were doing. Wow was this an eye opener!
3. Once I figured out how other top earners were making the "Big bucks" I did one thing and I did alot of it, I took MASSIVE ACTION EVERYDAY. This is where most people fall short. Picture a train just starting to move from a dead stop. It takes a lot of energy just to get it to start to moving down the tracks. But as the train gains momentum, it doesn't take as much energy to keep it moving. Your business will act the same way.
Your probably wondering why I am so passionate for other people to succeed? Well, it's pretty simple, I get a huge "positive-kick" when someone who has failed before, finally makes a profit and calls me overjoyed with excitement. I also hate to see people fail, because I have and I know how how frustrating it is.
