Magnum O is more a family than a rap group. Hailing from Philadelphia (West & North) and meeting in boarding school (Milton Hershey School) in the late 80's the bond is way deeper than rap. They started in the school yards performing for their classmates, not only honing their skills but also showmanship. They were clearly influenced by the Golden Eras of the 80's and 90's. Now in 2009 they are ready to take it back to skills, social commentary, and just good music period. Members include Prince Asiatic, L Tyrannic, and Ras with members in Georgia (Omygahsh) and Florida. In 2005 they exploded on the scene with memorable performances all over Philly. Gaining momentum in the underground they made noise with their debut album "Ain't No Mystery" in 2006. The album was an instant classic and featured "Strawbridges" which is regarded as a turning point. Sound was traveling fast and the group was making a name for themselves. In 2007 Ras came home from a tour of duty in the Air Force. They went straight to the studio and started "Where The Sidewalk Ends". They mixtape was supposed to drop that autumn but was postponed when L Tyrannic was shot in October. Six days later the group made a performance at the Medusa Lounge with L Ty in a wheelchair that brought down the house, solidifying their status as heavyweights in the underground. Joining forces with THOR Takeover they released "Where The Sidewalk Ends" in March 2008 @ The Buckshot show. Not ones to be consumed by trials and tribulations they moved forward. In March of 2009 they dropped "Quality Over Quantity" with White Chalk Ent. The mixtape was considered an instant classic to those that heard it. "Masterpiece Theater" iz the long awaited follow up due this summer. The focal point of the group is good music with a message, something positive for the youth and revitalizing hip hop. Fans in PA,NJ,NY,CT,MD can attest these brothers are serious.
