Magnum Rim's infuluences include many. The obvious would be: CCR, The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who. Although British Bands are mentioned above, this is just clean 'ol Classic American Rock.
Sounds Like
(Based on what others tell me): CCR, The Tragically Hip, The Stones -- Rock from the '70's.
Over the course of 12 years, break-ups, partnerships, name changes -- the new and improved "Magnum Rim" is underway with an 11 song album.
The album consists of very raw, southerly-blues driven rock. Songs like "Wheels" and "Muddy Ruts" are best heard driving full-throttle down an empty highway, or while tapping your foot sittin' on a bar stool sippin' back some suds. I suppose drinking and driving mentioned in the above analogy may not be best suitable, but just remember the rule: "make sure you don't spill your drink".
Magnum Rim is not all about the energy and hangovers however, songs like "Mossback" and a hidden "Jam" track are listened to best to set your mood into lower gear.
The course of the songs contains a powerhouse rythym section of bass and drums, where a dynamic wave of guitars circle through the air in various forms of leads. In between, you will hear acoustics (which I almost consider to be percussive), and a hint of organs and piano.
The objective of Magnum Rim is to bring back what was once alive -- good classic rock music.
There is no nonsense to Magnum Rim -- nothing artificial. It is real people playing really good music.
R.I.P. CHAD EBERLE (1974-2008) He helped in the development of this project for 10 years with his incredible drumming. 3 songs on the album are with Chad on drums. He was a dear friend, and will truly be missed.
