MAGRR was formed in August of 2001. Our mission is the placement of homeless golden retrievers in loving homes, and to the education of responsible pet ownership.
Memphis Area Golden Retriever Rescue is a non-profit Tennessee Corporation and also recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization making all donations tax deductible.
MAGRR also works with several groups in the New England - New York area to place our goldens in very special homes in the Northeast.
Who I'd like to meet: MAGRR New England, was launched in October of 2006. The south is just overrun with homeless dogs and cats, and we have our hands full with golden retrievers looking for loving families. In the New England area, a rescue golden retriever is hard to find. MAGRR New England created a way for us to put our MAGRR goldens in loving homes in the Northeastern area. This elderly lady went to hospital for surgery... Put dog in kennel. She had to stay 7 weeks in hosp.
She paid mostly everything but 200. Dog was not to be released. She then paid that amount, but bill went up. She paid $1,500 to kennel, now 2 months later kennel still won't release but also says she owes $2,000 now. The dog has been there over 3 months. No bath. Now has large cyst, getting bigger. The old dogs spirit is being broken living in small cage with no walks. This dog is used to being spoiled, the kennel will not even let the owner look at dog through window!!
I spoke with the kennel owner. She tried telling me Ariela's mom went to the Bahamas and never came back for her dogs for months. That Ariela's mom was homeless, ect. Ariela's mom did produce paperwork stating sh had surgery, and she has lived at her place for some time. FYI, it does not really matter, Ariela is her and the KENNEL HAS NO RIGHT TO KEEP ARIELA!!!!

I need your help, every dollar makes a difference. On Saturday, October 25, I will participate in the PAWS Mutt Strut, which will bring 1,000 animal lovers and their pets together for a 1.5-mile walk through FDR Park. We will raise badly needed funds for PAWS’ lifesaving programs including adoption outreach, spay/neuter clinics, and low-cost vaccination services. We will also raise awareness of the harsh reality that thousands of healthy and treatable animals are killed in Philadelphia each year, simply because they do not have homes. The Mutt Strut will offer us a day of companionship and celebration, and will enable PAWS to give countless more animals the chance to experience that companionship and safety for themselves.
