Bio
.... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... .......... A native of Long Beach California, Maile was born into a musical family of six headed by her Hawaiian father and her Irish mother. From the moment she could talk, her parents put her on the stage with her Dad's local band and in between sets, she entertained the crowd. By 5, she joined the International Children's Choir and began traveling with the entire family in tow. This led to an audition wherein she was handpicked out of thousands of kids, to record the children's version of "We Are The World" and the single went on to sell over 500,000 copies. Her home steadily became a loud musical stomping ground where Maile was influenced by everything music; her Dad (formerly a session player for Pure Prairie League), herself and her brothers would jam in their home made studio (living room) singing and harmonizing to anything and everything. From the Eagles to George Strait to Fleetwood Mac to Linda Ronstadt, music quickly became who Maile was and performing on stage became her God given talent. After graduating from Orange County High School of the Arts, she attended UCLA where she continued to hone her craft, while working nights as a waitress to pay her tuition. After she graduated from UCLA she spent weekends singing with her Dad's cover band "Elm Street Band" appearing in gigs across southern California while also appearing in nationally televised commercials and television shows. One of those shows would catapult signing her first major record deal. It was the WB hit television series, "POPSTARS", where she was chosen out of thousands of hopefuls to be in the all-girl pop group, "EDEN'S CRUSH", produced by MULTI- Grammy winner David Foster. The group's first single "Get Over Yourself" made it's debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Chart, selling more singles than any other female pop group in history. The girls continued their journey on the conveyor belt of the music industry with a whirlwind record release, 2 major U.S. tours sharing the stage with everyone from Aerosmith to NYSNC to Nelly Furtado. But all good things came to an end and so did Eden's Crush due to creative differences and label support. Having weathered that storm, Maile continued to work in television and film, but after a period of introspection and a temporary change of address (Glasgow, Scotland) Maile found herself far away from home and even farther away from her music. Stagnant and unhappy, yet destined for great change in her personal and professional life, she returned to Los Angeles and began experimenting with several producers while keeping busy doing session background vocals and touring for artists such as Jessica Simpson, Michael Bolton and Richard Marx. But she couldn't find the sound she was looking for. She began digging deep back to her roots and into the music she was raised on, when fate stepped in. It was late one night back in her apartment, she penned her first song. With the encouragement of a producer off her last record, she took a brief visit to Nashville and after an inspiring eye-opening night at a local writer's round, she came home to Los Angeles, packed her things and headed to Music City to immerse herself into the community that would ultimately lead to her voice and her songs. -
