I can often be seen performing with multi-instrumentalist, Anna Massie and singer/guitarist Jenn Butterworth. I also play in Box Club with John Somerville, Angus Lyon, Gary Innes, Duncan Lyall, Mike Bryan and Martin O'Neill and....The Laurels is an exciting new song project with lead singer Jenn Butterworth, Mhairi Hall on piano and myself on accordion and backing vocals.
Equally talented on the accordion, the pipes and the piano, Mairearad can be seen regularly performing with The Anna Massie Band (winners of the 2006 Best Folk Band Award at the Scots Trad Music Awards) as well as the new accordion extravaganza, Box Club. She has also recently filled the shoes of Karen Tweed as a new member of The Poozies.
In November 2007, Mairearad toured with the fantastic singer/songwriter Karine Polwart and she has also performed several times with Scotland's one and only Celtic big band, The Unusual Suspects.
A keen composer, Mairearad has recently written the music for the short film "Sea of Glass" and many of her compositions are rapidly becoming popular session tunes. Among the favourites are "Maggie West's Waltz" and "Dram Behind the Curtain."
