BloodMoney Music, C-Smooth Entertainment, Raw Dawg Productions, Hum Bugg Entertainment, Whut Entertainment, and ICCPPP have come together to throw “Hip Hop Explosion 2001,” a party looking to be one of this summer’s hottest for Hip Hop and Rap. This party will be held at Araha Beach at Hamby Town Park in Chatan on Saturday, July 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature many talented local music and dance acts and a bikini contest with a cash prize. “We are still accepting contestants for the bikini contest,” says a Hip Hop Explosion promoter. This event is looking to be a good mix between the Japanese and American sides of the Okinawan Hip Hop and Rap scenes. Featured at this party will be many talented Japanese and American performers including Casino, Adrenaline, Above, Major Hustle, Flava Dancers, Whut Dancers, 190, Pee Dee, Wee Scraw, Balla Squad, Eddie Cane, Q, Sun Down Kid, Dai & Ryoko, BloodMoney Boys, Guy, and music by DJ Hi-5ive. “We’d like to emphasize that this is an international event,” promoters say. “We’re trying to touch bases on both the American side and Japanese side.” Also, Phat Beats CDs will be sold at the event featuring music from many of New York’s finest underground DJs.
