Listen and decide for yourself. We love critical thinking, critical mass, critical culture.
Rita (Ritischka) Burkholder loves the accordion, the ukulele, horns, bells whistles, wailing trombones and tears. She writes about the one thing she knows about most. Heartache. Songs have a funny way of creeping up on her and she has a way of pinning their wings to the wall while maintaining the integrity of their stories.
She has played DIY style at local pubs and coffeehouses and busked up and down the east coast and south. She recently toured with the Vermillion Lies Sisters from New York City @ the Zipper Factory down the East Coast as well as with quirky local band the Counter Clock Wise. She is planning to tour again next summer and fall. If you are willing to donate a gallon of gas for tour she would love you and blow you kisses!!!! If you like what you hear send a message or try listening to her cd (available via paypal , below). Check out her collaborative work with songster Alex Ward @ Alex and Rita, also on myspace! Thanks for popping in to see what's new! Thanks for your support!

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
