New reviews on The Rabbit Hole:
'The Rabbit Hole is a follow-up to his self-titled debut, and it’s a mature, elegant and fiercely intelligent pop record. Flynn is, simply put, an amazing songwriter...You wait for the weak point, the crap song, the part you can complain about. But it doesn’t come. Flynn has managed to put together a stunningly good album, full of great stories, emotion and wit.'

Daniel Wynne, Time Off
'Major Chord is sure to put smiles on faces with their second offering in a very wholesome way, and Flynn's clever lyrical structures are second to none. People say they don't write songs like that anymore, but this here is proof that they do.'
Monika Laskowski, dB Magazine
'The Rabbit Hole, a blissful forty-two minutes of uplifting pop melodies. Major Chord is the baby of multi-instrumentalist Dan Flynn, the man behind the beautiful songs...Flynn’s musical artistry and story telling prowess is sure to inspire and delight.'
Kathryn Mahina, The Dwarf.com.au
'It's a great package, with Dan Flynn's mellow voice, minimal instrumentation cunningly combined to produce an entrancing melody, home-spun wisdom about life that has a real ring of truth to it and a liberal use of black humour.'
Rory McCartney, BMA Magazine
On the self-titled debut album:
'It’s hard to quantify exactly what it is that makes this self-titled debut album from Melbourne-based duo Major Chord so instantly and heart-warmingly appealing. Singer-songwriter/guitarist Dan Flynn and violinist Kate Connor weave an undeniable magic...’
Justin Grey, Time Off
'Dan Flynn and Kate Connor, really weave a special magic into their songs. Delicate, mesmerising, fragile, beautiful, there are many words to describe the music found on Major Chord‘s self-titled debut release. This album contains ten songs in all, each as incredible and moving as the other...all of the ten songs are captivating. This is well worth the effort and more to seek out; it's just amazing.'
Mark Rasmussen, Media Search
'Both comforting and confronting in all its unabashed loved-up glory. A minor classic.’
Chris Girdler, Beat
'An emotional and intimate record with well-polished songs...that seem to have been discovered from an early '70s singer-songwriter’s basement, transcending time and fashion...recalling the splendid Iron & Wine at their best.’
Con Sarazan, MX
Folk-pop ramblings, double-meanings and melodic dealings are the work of Major Chord.
Major Chord expose the world to the sound of violins played down the hall, vocals recorded at 4am, percussion from all corners of the world and an old 70’s keyboard that cushions the fall...
Glockenspiels and shakers, the work of music makers, piano accordion and guitars played between passing cars...
Major Chord offers a place in which to wander or hide; each song with a story folded neatly inside.

Dan writes the songs, then records & mixes the tracks in his studio Out the Back. He performs vocals, guitar, glockenspiel, Farfisa, Casio, piano-accordian and a hodge-podge of percussion, Kate adorns the tunes with her lush violin and harmonies and other accomplished locals add tasty morsels of keys, percussion, bass and choral merriment, at times making their lush, intimate sound slightly more boisterous.
The marrow of Major Chord lies in the rawness and honesty of folk traditions mixed up with the accessibility of pop culture, as Dan draws on his daily life pursuits as substance for his art.

Hello! :) The album is so beautiful. after buying two, i had to get a 3rd one from JB today. I have gotten 2 to give to a couple of friends of mine that i hope to soon bless with your wonderful tunes but i hadnt had enough dollars for 3 cds when i saw you in brisbane. I have been to an abundance of music concerts, but the more i think about it the more i belive i have enjoyed yours the most of all! From the musos persepective it may not have been the most ideal place to play, but all other concerts i have been to have been a bit surreal, like you're just standing in a dream or watching a televisio screen. But Ric's had a very comfortable atmosphere accompanied by very honest heartfilled music. I was very worried i wouldn't make it coz i had trouble finding someone to go with me, i would not brave brisbane valley nightlife on my own. But the night just seemed to work out perfectly & i had a whole entourage of brothers who were so extremely thankful they had gone. I also wished i had stayed and talked to you longer becuase i wanted to ask about getting you first album but i felt i was holding up some eager customers waiting to get your cd & my brother was worried about missing the last train, of which we got just by 30 seconds. Getting that train concluded an incredible eveing that somehow came together perfectly. Thankyou so so so very much for coming all the way that you did. I'll be sure to see you next time:)
