Major Taylor SkatePark is a outdoor concrete public skatepark located at the Lake Sullivan Sports Complex(3649 Cold Spring Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222 (317)327-8356)If You are from out of town use Google Maps,or call the office Major Taylor SkatePark was built in 1999/00 and the first Public Skatepark ever in Indianapolis.Hopefully with more private and civic support it will not be the last, as there is a ever growing demand and definate need for additional locations for alternative youth oriented "sports" activities(For lack of a better word anyways .It's kind of like calling ballet a sport.For most,skateboarding is lifelong devotion & expression.) The park is starting to show it's age,and in ill repair,but is a integral and important fixture of the Indianapolis skate/bmx/blade scene.Most days it's common for the user population to far exceed the capacity of the park.The best times for less experienced riders and a less populated environment is earlier in the day.The SkatePark also offers Skateboarding clinics in the summer months(please call the office for info on schedules and prices.) SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SKATESHOPS AND SKATE COMPANIES...NOT MALLWART!
