Its 2007 and the music industry is desperately trying to find new ways of reinventing itself in the digital age. So why, if it appears the relevance of record labels is questionable, would we embark on such a venture?.......

Well what do we do then? We are a beautiful cassette and download only record label. There We said it. That’s what we are. So why cassettes? We love vinyl. Everybody does… and who wouldn’t? There are many labels releasing great stuff on vinyl, and more and more labels becoming download only. The cassette is a piece of architecture: it’s built to last on the outside and delicate within. It has a modified quality to it: hiss and warmth means character. The artwork and packaging has so much more in the way of challenges to make amazing… These reasons and more are why we love cassettes. The truth is, as this label unfolds we are learning more and more why we love cassettes. Why do you?

Make Recordings was set up by like-minded songwriters and producers John Meredith and John Rushton. They share a passion for good music, great artwork and beautiful packaging. So Make Recordings was born..with the promise of something special, inexpensive and also free. We aim to offer great new music, make recordings which sound great and look beautiful…..music you want to keep, listen to, share and hug.

We want to share the Make Recordings vision with other bands/artists who care for the same values that we do and with that in mind we will be actively looking at signing deals in early 2008. We are a small independent label so we work to small budgets and initially we are looking to sign single and compilation deals.
