Formed in the summer of 2006, Makeshift Astronaut is the brainchild of a scientist, a farmer and a therapist. Each brings an interest in experimenting, making things grow and making things better. The three met under random circumstances; two and a half members have shows at Thunder Bay’s alternative community radio, LU102.7fm. Weeks and months past that saw the coming and going of a fourth and the addition of a robot playing white and black keys. The Astronaut plays an eclectic mix of jamming sounds that combines rock, funk, psychedelia, punk, and noise. As time passes the Astronaut prepares to tackle ‘uncharted’ territory. Enjoy the trip.
