  • Bio

.. .... We ARE available for bookings now - but, if it's a wedding, I think we're busy that night....... ..Production CV:.... Mako & The Hawk's first mash-up 'Ain't No Other Big Boss Man was played on Craig Charles' BBC Radio 6 Funk & Soul show on May 16th 2009. Their third mash-up 'Shut Up & Give It Up' was played as part of Smoove's DJ set at the Big Chill Festival in August 2009 and their (unofficial) 'Not Enough Funk' remix of Beastie Boys track 'Too Many Rappers' was played by Craig Charles on 22 August 2009. And they still had time for a cup of tea..... ..DJ CV:.... There's no point asking Mako and The Hawk in person where they've played, they'll make any old shit up. However it IS true that they've done gigs at the following venues:.... Timbuk2 - Bristol.. 'Funky, Funky, Get Down On The Get Down' - Newbury.. The Attic - Bristol.. Lordy Lord - Soho, London.. The Spotted Cow - Bristol.. Mr Wolf's - Bristol.. Day & Night - Bristol.. The Junction - Bristol.... ..Biog:.... Mako and The Hawk are old enough to know better. .... Back in the day Mako used to have trouble mixing a vodka and coke but happily now, even when the record skips, he still rips. Roughly translated that means he can beat-match. Don’t ask for anything more complicated than a baby scratch though - he even thinks that is something ‘a bit like a Chinese burn’. Definitely don’t ask for his opinions on music either - unless you’ve got all week. And no, he can’t play any instruments – unless you count the kazoo. Oh yeah - one more thing...it's MaYko not MaKKo!.... The Hawk, on the other hand, is not ..just.. a pretty face. Bassist for mod-funk legends Big Boss Man, bassist for those low-down and dirty psychobillies the Coffin Nails, one half of hip-hop duo the Cookers, and a solo beats artist in his own right, he’s a slut for music with a vinyl collection to match. Make sure he brings his own needles when he comes to play though. There’s a reason they call him Jack The Ripper….. .. .. ..We edited this profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace). 'Ave it.
