| General | Travel and learning about other cultures, mythology and symbolism, comedy, spirituality not bound to any one religious framework, the art of storytelling in all it's myriad forms (that includes film and television, songwriting and paintings, sculpture and photography, etc...) | | Music | My tastes tend toward the adult alternative, progressive rock, power pop, emo, and all that BUT I also love Big Band Jazz, World Music, any pretty much anything with a good solid melody, surprising harmonies and driving rhythm. | | Movies | "Joe Versus the Volcano" for it's very Joseph Campbell, Hero With a Thousand Faces-type symbolic journey. Adventure or Romantic Comedy are my faves, and if they combine both, I'm all over it! I tend to memorize lines as if they were instructions for life. | | Television | Anything that engages the mind and the heart, and does it well with skillful storytelling and interesting relatable characters. For me lately that means Grey's Anatomy, House, CSI (Vegas), and I can't miss American Idol. | | Books | All of them. Okay, I'll narrow it down. Fiction Authors: Anne Rice, Isabel Allende. Spiritual Inspiration Authors: Joseph Campbell, Carolyn Myss, Julia Cameron, Deepak Chopra, Chellie Campbell. My latest favorite: The Intellectual Devotional. Learning is fun! | | Heroes | Anne Rice for fearlessness in her choices. Joseph Campbell for figuring it all out for me before I got there. Oprah for daring to rise above. Pretty much anyone who has contributed to everything above! |
