From Alternative Press:
"Brilliant....Malcolm Bauld's debut solo offering, Covered In Dust, is a killer slab of singer-songwriter traditional folk-punk."
CBC Radio 3 on 'Summer Fears':
"Sometimes I hit a song and get exactly what I want...where has this song been all my life?"
From Bang Bang:
" La première affaire que j’ai à dire c’est: «Calisse qu’y’é fort!» L’attente en aura donc franchement valu la peine. Si j’avais à mettre une note, ce serait un 10/10."
From Nightlife Magazine:
"Covered In Dust will satisfy the diehards with its tough, hook-laden edge, while surprising with the scope of its musicianship and laid-back tenderness"
From The Edmonton Journal:
"...another fine example of Montreal's fertile music scene. His solo debut, /Covered In Dust/, is reminscent of the greats — Joe Strummer, Bruce Springsteen, The Levellers, and Billy Bragg."
From The Winnipeg Uniter:
"Extremely strong vocal melodies, expert musicianship...sweet folk tunes with a sharp edge."
From SoundSalvationArmy:
"I really can’t recommend this album enough. One of my favourite all-time Canadian songwriters has only gotten better with age."
Bio:
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland and raised on the West Coast of Canada, Malcolm Bauld currently calls Montreal home. After seven years of releasing albums and touring across North America in various punk bands like The Frenetics and Sissy Havoc, Malcolm released two solo, independent EPs in 2006, one of which featured appearances by Sudbury power pop band Statues (Radio 81, Pelado Records), and members of The Sainte Catherines (Fat Records), Snailhouse (Scratch) and Abigail Lapell. Canadian tours with Billy The Kid and Statues followed, as well as local appearances with The Weakerthans, Amos Lee, The Living End, Crooked Fingers and The Constantines. In early 2008, Malcolm hooked up with Buffalo, New York label Art of the Underground, and released his debut full length COVERED IN DUST. Punk News.com called COVERED IN DUST "...one of the most powerful and thought-provoking records to come out this year". Canadian and European dates followed, with touring mates Toronto via Cape Breton band Horses, Winnipeg pop masters The Details, and Hillbilly Stew artist Autumn Picture.
When not on the road, Malcolm can frequently be seen and heard collaborating with acts like Pawa Up First (Dare To Care), Yesterday's Ring (Suburban Home) and Dirty Tricks (blueskiesturnblack).
