Heroes are ALL those who fight for their own or others lives, who fight against starvation, war, sickness, violence, discrimination...the list is long... Heroes are ALL those who give help to animals, people and every other living thing. Heroes are ALL those who despite difficulties do their best to give themselves and their families a good life. Heroes are ALL those who do what they believe in, who follow their own hearts even though their financial position might be bad because of that and/or people not understanding their burning passion. Most of All Heroes are known as "Ordinary People". So remember: When You meet someone You think of as "just an ordinary person"... That "ordinary person" might be the Greatest Hero You will ever meet. Also remember: You might be a Great Hero Yourself!
T H E M O S T F A M O U S L E G A L P O A M “A groom must expect matrimonial pandemonium/ When his spouse finds he’s given her cubic zirconium.” So begins a dissent by Justice J. Michael Eakin in the 2002 case of Porreco v. Porreco, which addressed whether a wife fairly relied on her husband’s claim that an engagement ring was worth $21,000 when, in fact, the stone in it was fake. I resurrect this couplet in response to Diane’s call to celebrate National Poetry month, but also to make a serious point about poetry & law. As the N.Y. Times then reported, the rhyming judge drew the ire of some colleagues. Chief Justice Stephen A. Zappala wrote that “an opinion that expresses itself in rhyme reflects poorly on the Supreme Court of Pa.” Other judicial lyricists have been similarly criticized by their peers. Generally, I am w/ the critics. At least since Plato banished the poet from his ideal republic, law & poetry seem like things to be valued separately. One is reminded of Balzac’s comment that he liked women’s hair & that he liked soup, but not women’s hair in his soup.In a 1986 essay, Robert Cover explains why we hold the 2 enterprises apart. He observes that law is different from other textual enterprises because judges “deal pain & death.”In this they are different from poets, critics, artists, he contends.“It will not do to insist on the violence of strong poetry, & strong poets.Even the violence of weak judges is utterly real—a naïve but immediate reality, in need of no interpretation, no critic to reveal it.” This point may explain why, as Benjamin Cardozo once noted, dissents (which do not deal immediate pain or death) are more likely to be literary than majority opinions. Even the otherwise unrepentant Justice Eakin included his couplet in a dissent & assured the Times that he would never rhyme in a “serious criminal case. ”But like every generalization, the idea that law is a serious business while literature is an ornamental pastime has some importa
On December 10th bureaucrats at the Food and Drug Administration sent what was effectively a cease-and-desist letter to Coca-Cola, informing them that their use of the word “Plus” in Diet Coke Plus, based on the inclusion of vitamins and minerals in the product, did not meet the FDA’s definition.
This issue ultimately comes down to one of personal responsibility. Does it make sense that money you earn is taken from you to pay the salary of some bureaucrats in Washington so that they can determine whether a product can be deemed “Plus” or not? Hell, I’d say, let folks keep their coin and make their own decisions. If anything, it’ll cause them to be more cognizant of what they’re putting into their bodies. And if folks think Coke’s use of the word “Plus” is excessive they can write the company letters or vote with their dollars and buy another product.
The FDA’s actions are nothing more than doublespeak pure and simple, and if we start allowing government actors to define words pretty soon they’ll have us believing that corruption and inefficiency are good things.
God Bless…Happy New Year!!!...May God bless you and your family. I wish you health wealth and prosperity in 2009 and beyond. We Made It!!! Keep pushing and be a blessing.
Stay Focused, Positive and Productive.

Occupied, terrorized, genocide while the whole world is hypnotized, Sixty years, incessant tears no day passes by without countless fears For our lives, our wives, our children cry yet the world turns away, and our spirits die. For my land, I do stand but I remain hopeless without a helping hand, Oppression, suppression, depression of every aspect of my life, you've taken possession, Our weapons are stones, to protect our homes but your bulldozers win and terror roams, Yours are tanks, helicopters, and military jeeps to kill the young man, as his mother weeps, You control our electricity, you control our seas you control our streets, and uproot our trees, You close our schools, our children can't learn you deny the refugees their right to return, Suffering orphans, under your persecution when they rise up, they face execution, Families are separated, and farmers (merely) recall the land they lost by your Apartheid Wall, Through your diplomacy and your foreign relations you attempt to justify and give credence to your occupations, Palestine is my land, and I won't let you take it and while you put the world to sleep, I try to wake it. PLEASE PASS THIS ON!!!!
