Maledia Photosession "Black Heaven" 2006
The idea was born in 1996, in the periphery of Rome, within the mind of Mechanix, Maléun and Thunder (drums, bass and guitar).
Love for music joined the boys together, holding them and making them accomplices, it was the right moment. Even if they were young people (14/15 years old approximately), their musical skills were/are great, (and probably they won..t be long to go outside); in the last times of this first meeting, they found a place to play (the BOX), and they were making covers of Nirvana..s and Metallica..s songs (idol-bands for this guys) as a beginning.
After some years of this, the TRUE musical growing begins; covers aren..t enough anymore, they aren..t able to satisfy their creativity, that starts to strike and pulse on them, a vein of creativity.
Perhaps, their love for music had other goals and plans to do...
They began to create their first original tracks, according the punk/rock wave of the musical international landscape of the period. They formed and unravelled various bands, changed many members, in the continuum searching for the right persons, but for their own style and personality too. In this period, Azeman (actual guitarist of ..Zedher..) joined the band as a solo guitar, with Thunder as rhythmic guitar and voice.
Always loving the symphonic sound mixed with hard rock/metal, gothic harmonies and dark/horror variations, they found their way.
1999/2000 were the years of the gothic metal boom.
Bands like Nightwish bewitch them since the first time they listened them.. that was what they were looking for, what it accord to their sound .. the union and perfect fusion of the dark/horror with the clean and gentle, METAL mixed with pure melody.
In 2000 the searching began; it wasn..t easy, the willing to create burst within the walls of the BOX.. the formation of that time was like this: Mechanix (Drums), Maléun (Bass), Azeman (solo guitar) and Thunder (rhythmic guitar).
The style demanded an skilled keyboarder, valid and ready, also he had to believe in the plan just like the others. After several tryings, they found Bleidan, a great-skilled young boy in love with Iron Maiden and Stratovarius.. a very young boy, though very much for the difficult way it was proposed.. but the sixth sense of the group found the path and Marco joined.
The more complex searching: a female voice indispensable for songs already created, pieces from the earliest days. After a little time Rossella joined to the group.
With this line-up, Maledia is born. It was the year 2001. ..Dark Sensation.. and ..Killing You.., the first two songs, were, obviously unripe and with few personality but extraordinary winning. The first DEMO cd was recorded; it had a very discreet result, the band is in the beginnings and it was felt.. but the group is alive. After a short time, they made the decision to change the singer, musical requirements of tightness.
The searching was long; Maledia kept on, the searching of the singer didn..t seem to have a positive outcome. Many tries and voices were listened on their songs, but nobody was able to convince them.. until they met Loo.
They loved her VOICE instantly, and she was what they have been looking for: wonderful voice, incredibly vocal extension, another music lover. (Loo - soprano-voice and live performance for DAEMONIA, the Claudio Simonetti horror band !)
A young singer, a lyric soprano able to passing from properly lyric songs to light ones, but she had never had to do with the genre.. but the sixth sense that joined them with Bleidan was heading them in the moment.
Though, after a little time (less than a year) Azeman left the group by his own choice.
The formation of MALEDIA from 2002 is the actual one.
Finally music: every member gave space and force to their own potentialities; many songs were born, in less than a year almost 10 songs were composed. Two years of concerts in several premises of Rome and Italy to get experience, and then because MALEDIA live of STAGE..
The recording of the first demo was late to arrive because that..s they way MALEDIA have chosen, waiting for a better work, that wasn..t late to be born.
..Black Heaven.. was born at the end of 2003, in a winter evening. Then ..Nightfall.. and ..Hopeless Desire... These tracks pushed to the recording.
The production of the mini-CD, ..Black Heaven.., finished in January 2005 at the Outer Sound Studios of Giuseppe Orlando (Novembre) .
This one has an optimal success getting good critics and replies from different musical reviews and magazines while MALEDIA continued the live stuff and participating in many musical competitions in Italian land: finalists at Emergenza Rock Festival, got at final also in Spazio Giovani of Foggia (2005), won prize Musical News, and always got to the final of Turin ..Festival Bands.. winning the prize ..Better Voice...
They are contacted to participate in a compilation published by the Masterpiece Production Nomadism Records ..United Forces of Phoenix.., they participate there with the Demo. The live concerts in Italy continued.
June 2006, MALEDIA has recorded a second try, ..Sacryledia.. composed by four new pieces.
These tracks will be in their first full length, in which MALEDIA is working, that might be released in 2007. Pieces are there and they are ready, only waiting to be released.. at the right moment.
MALEDIA is not a dream but a truth that deserves attention, five exceptional musicians that live for music, five young adults that were born for this.
Maledia is now part of the Zero Effect Records - Indipendent Metal Record, the band have officially entered the studio to register theirs debut-album "She and Her darkness" hat will go out about in autumn 2008 . . . Stay TUNED . . .
