Maliika is a Folk/Soul band based in Manchester hailing from all walks of life.
The members’ diverse musical backgrounds range from singer/songwriter to soul, reggae and classical. These blend together to create a unique soulful sound, rich in soothing melodies and seamless harmonies. Maliika's music entices the listener to relax, have a brew and ponder the beautiful things in life.
The name Maliika derives from the Arabic and Swahili word for “Queen”.
Maliika has been hard at work, having evolved drastically over the last 12 months. The result is their opening eponymously titled EP, released in February 2009. The EP has been well received and was granted airplay and playlist on All FM, Manchester.
