    .... .. .. .. .. Depuis son plus jeune âge, Malika est attirée par les arts et plus particulièrement par la musique. Quand ses parents s'aperçoivent qu'elle effectue des oeuvres de J.S Bach à l'oreille, ils décident de lui faire suivre des cours de piano classique. Après 9 ans de cours privés, et de nombreux prix d'interprétation lors de concours de piano inter caraïbes (disponibles sur demande), elle décide de se tourner vers le chant. Toujours de manière autodidacte, elle fait ses premiers pas dans la chanson en s'imprégnant de Rhythm and blues. En 1998, un voyage d'agrément au Canada change sa vie car elle y découvre le Québec et rêve d'y étudier en musique. Elle en fait son objectif. .. .. Après l'obtention de son Baccalauréat français (équivalent à un diplôme d'études collégiales) en juin 2001, ainsi qu'une victoire au réputé concours de chant « graines de star » auquel participe les « poetic lovers », elle réalise son rêve en s'inscrivant à l'Université de Sherbrooke en chant jazz. Elle foule le sol canadien en décembre 2001 et au bout de 3 sessions à Sherbrooke, elle déménage à Montréal pour y achever son Bac en mai 2005 (Université de Montréal). Entre temps, elle a eu l'occasion de jouer avec de grands musiciens tels que le renommé pianiste Luc Beaugrand et le chanteur, compositeur et excellent musicien Grégory Charles. Elle a aussi participé à quelques émissions télévisées de François Morency en temps que choriste. .. .. En 2005, elle a intégré le groupe collectif de Montréal « kalmunity vibe ». Ce groupe d'improvisation étant un nid de talents, elle a pu jouer avec quelques uns des artistes les plus prometteurs de la scène hip-hop-reggae-rnb de Montréal. De plus, depuis le printemps 2007, elle est l'une des choristes de la très talenteueuse chanteuse Coral Egan, qui lui permet de partager la scène avec Antoine Gratton, Annie Villeneuve et Dawn Tayler Watson. Forte de ces rencontres fructueuses, elle a fondé en été 2007, deux groupes de compositions personnelles, l'un empreint de jazz et l'autre pourvu de saveur pop-soul-rnb. Son oreille et sa direction musicale ainsi que sa voix suave et grave devrait lui assurer une place certaine parmi les meilleurs chanteurs et compositeurs. Elle ne souhaite qu'une chose désormais, partager son don et sa passion pour la musique avec le reste du monde en enregistrant un disque. .. .. .. From her youngest days, Malika has been fascinated with the arts and, most notably, music. When her parents discovered her playing Bach pieces by ear, they figured that enrolling her in classical piano classes would be prudent. .. .. After 9 years of private lessons and numerous prizes in the Inter-Caribbean piano contests (available upon request), she set her sights on singing. She continued carving out a self-taught tradition and sang her first notes self-reflecting from the soul of R&B. .. .. In 1998, a trip to Canada for vacation changed her life path in terms of vocation. She discovered Quebec and started dreaming about being a music student there. Ever a woman of action, she set out to align that vision with reality. .. .. She garnered a win in the illustrious "Graines de Star" showcase in 2000. In 2001, she obtained her music degree and continued to pursue her studies at The University of Sherbrooke. She made the move to cosmopolitan Montreal and received her bachelor's degree in music in May 2005 from the Universite de Montreal. Concurrently, she performed with such renowned musicians as pianist Luc Beaugrand and effervescent multi-talent, Gregory Charles. .. She was also a featured member of Francois Morency's chorus for his television program. .. In 2005, Malika integrated into another ideal niche with the Kalmunity Vibe Collective. The live improv funk/soul/jazz/reggae collective of immensely talented and diverse musicians and vocalists is the perfect environment in which to hone one's skills and also perfect one's ability to contribute individually to an ever-evolving group standard. It is from within this collective that Malika was able to branch off into two other incarnations of a weekly band date with her voice as the focal point. .. .. Since the spring of 2007, she has sung backup for Coral Egan, which has afforded her such opportunities to share stages with Antoine Gratton, Annie Villeneuve, and Dawn Taylor Watson. Out of these fruitful meetings, Malika was able to conceive two bodies of original compositions-one with the imprint and influence of jazz and the other with a more pop-soul R&B flavour. .. Her keen ear, acute sense of musical direction, and her velvety vocals (that can melt marble) combine to guarantee Malika a place amongst the best of singer/songwriters internationally.
