About Malissia:
I have had an ongoing love affair with music... My passion sings through me, I live to express myself through song and performing.
Expressing my vocal talents for you and me, and the world to listen to and enjoy. I offer it to you as it blossoms inside me, overflows through me and slides off my tongue allowing you, the listener to drink it all in...
Style:
Soulful and unique, sensual and intoxicating, Malissia mixes it up with her southern soul, blues and old school R&B when she's not dabbling with a bit of alternative rock to give her that spicy edge. She creates a sound all her own, trained both classically and in pop/rock styles, Malissia blends sensual raw R&B with laid back, smokey downstairs blues and passionate heartfelt soul, giving her what you may call a distinctively smooth and seductive sound.
Singing from the heart and deep inside her soul she reaches in and grabs the listener, making them feel the ache, the need, the longing and letting her sultry voice sink in...
Musical Roots:
Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas and singing since she was 8 years old, she grew up in the Seattle area where she studied classical music and opera. "I've been influenced by so many wonderful people in my life, my Aunt was the first by putting Pavarotti on TV, filling the house with such an amazing powerful voice and singing classical music every chance she got (which was brilliant and lovely) I once thought that if I could sing like that, I'd never stop singing... Also my father, who loved Country music and had the voice of an angel, man, could he sing!"
She grew up listening to everything from Classical opera to Elvis, Dolly Parton to Prince, absorbing it all and being inspired to grow both vocally and professionally. Moving to London for several years and working with a fantastic producer at Blue Room Productions on the more secular sounds of Pop, Rock and R&B turned out to be a creative high point. Working in the studio, writing and recording original music has opened up new doors for the aspiring professional singer. After returning to Seattle she has been working hard on achieving her goals to perform and write songs for a successful career... have a listen and say hi or leave a comment! : )
Dreams & Realities:
Malissia strives to define herself as an artist in an industry overflowing with amazing talent and fly by night reality stars. Recognizing her dream to succeed in an industry that is full of aspiring singers, she strives to show her potential and shine her light through the crowd. Like so many artists, her talent and creativity has been shaped by life's hard knocks and battles and the struggle to find an audience for her heartfelt lyrics and soulful sound. Finding her true passion in singing, she is determined to share her voice and music with the world. "believing I can, I will... believing in you, believing in me... together we sing... God is found in our voices, life lived full through our choices..." She chooses to sing.
It's been a long journey of self discovery and overcoming her fears, spending too many years on the sidelines, dabbling with her dreams but never allowing her goals as a singer/songwriter to fully manifest into a successful career, she is up for the challenge now. In the words of Nina Simone, "I gotta lotta livin' to do before I die, ain't got no time to waste..."

When I was at Westport with my in-laws an adorable two month old Siamese Kitten came running to me out of a parking lot. Castle's Aunt Libby was just telling me why her man doesn't like cats when I heard a meow, and just like a dog she came running strait for me! must of known I was a sucker. We drove around trying to find a shelter and found out there was none. Poor thing was invested with fleas and ear mites. She was such a sweet thing and just purred and purred. After a couple hours we found her a home with a friend of Castle's family.
