Mallie is a 21 yr old singer set to take the music world by storm. Originally from Bournemouth, now living in London this young songstress has created a soulful pop vibe, which is influenced by rock, reggae and stadium anthems.
Mallie draws on a mixed bag of influences such as Aerosmith, Stevie Nicks, Queen, Mariam Makeba, Jacob Miller, Bob Marley and Gwen Stefani conceiving music that intoxicates your senses. “I love to play with diverse styles and give them a mainstream pop vibe that people can sing and dance to”. Mallie’s music definitely has an addictive pop factor but it also has a deep side. If you listen carefully her songs have a rich, resonating lyrical content. It’s the kind of music where you’ll close your eyes and get lost in a sea of emotion, touched by the raw truth and vulnerability she lays bare in her tracks. So whether you’re a lyrics lover or passionate about vibing to a catchy hook and beat, there is something for all.
Mallie also paints, her mother is an artist and her father plays the harmonica and blues guitar. “I remember when I was a kid I was in love with his talent and his passion for music. We would listen to everything from Fleetwood Mac to Led Zeppelin together. I realised then that I wanted to be a singer”. Mallie’s parents were born and raised in South Africa and frequent trips back to S.A have definitely given her music a beautifully atypical flavour- everything from the flair of the female South African singers to the rich cultural tapestry is in this sassy songstress’s blood. By the age of 7 Mallie began writing songs and playing the piano. “I took some lessons, but never really had the patience for it!” This little music rebel taught herself, she learnt to play by ear. By 15 she had switched her focus from dance to music. And at 18 Mallie headed to London where she began performing in piano bars, singing in bands and also joined Souls of Prophecy, the renowned gospel choir. Mallie has been immersed in music and performance her whole life.
